Crazy freeze up with loud buzzing alarm sound?

Got a new Nexus 10 for Xmas and love it so far! Running KitKat. Have had a couple random reboots, but I understand that has been an issue with this tablet.

However, tonight was playing an online game, Golf Star, and the screen suddenly went black and the tablet started making a LOUD buzzing alarm type sound! Not unlike a smoke alarm going off! I could not access anything, home button didn't work, back button same, recent apps button, none of them worked!

Neither could I turn the volume down and trying to power down the tablet wasn't working either. The battery was not low, either, about 75% full.

The noise was loud enough to scare the cats and be uncomfortable for hubby and I to hear!

I finally connected it to the pogo cable and held the power button down a long time and then it booted up again and seems to be behaving normally. Even my game progress was saved. But it really scared me! Hate to think of this happening again in a public place, like say the library!!!!

Has anyone had anything like this happen? Should I consider getting a replacement from Google? Really alarmed that this tablet might not be reliable! Too expensive for that!

I've seen this before. Was it like this? Because you're definitely not the only one who has has this problem.

Unfortunately, I don't know of (and couldn't find through some searching) any sort of preventative fix. The good news? It seems like, in most cases, it's an isolated event. It's possible the tablet may be alright and will function properly from here on out.

Contacting Google would likely be the next step.

I notice that game has push notifications that some people say keep coming even when you turn them off. I wonder if one of them is somehow freezing the tablet.

Yes, that's the noise! Very loud, very disturbing! I guess I'll keep using it, unless it continues to happen. It was purchased from the Play Store, so if it happens again, I'll consider having them replace it.

I haven't had that happen to me yet on my nexus 10 but have used that app on other devices and it does have a lot of push notifications.

Yes, this is correct, I do get the push notifications from Golf Star even though I turned them off in game settings. Don't mind them that much, they usually are just reminders to log on and get free stuff.

However, I also play the game on a Nexus 7 (since September) and nothing like this has ever happened on *that* tablet. If the game freezes, it does not affect the Nexus 7, I just swipe it out of recent apps and restart the game.

Hmmm... Mine turned white, made that beep, I thought it was dead but when I put it on the charger and try Amd turn it on it just shows the battery pic and won't turn on. Anyone know what to do? I don't even know what a pogo is lol

This has been happening on my GS7 Edge as well...

Anyone find a fix yet?

I have a GS7 Edge also! was looking for someone with the same phone. Thank goodness it's not just me! :D the buzzing loud sound happened to me just now. so here I am looking it up and it seems there is not much of an answer yet. 😀😀😀

And i thought i was the only with GS7 Edge with same problem here. LOL

I faced the same issue 2 days ago and thought of returning it at AT&T store.
Bought it 2 weeks ago and my first GS7 Edge has left half of the touch screen is not responsive, Neither the keyboard and touch doesn't work on that side.
I replaced it within 1 day of purchase with another new device and now this happened (siren noise). :( :'(

Mine has only done the freeze-up with the loud sound twice since I've had it, but sadly, I do get silent freeze-ups and/or spontaneous reboots on a rather frequent basis. Would've been such a nice tablet, but I never loved it because it's just too darn frustrating to be in the middle of something and have the tablet suddenly freeze or reboot.

Also not enamoured of the way it just shuts down immediately when battery gets lowish. All my other devices give a warning and allow me time to shut down on my own.

Have been much happier with my Nexus 9 than I ever was with the Nexus 10.

My gs7 just did the same thing to me. Was holding it on the sides when it started buzzing, restarted it and when I felt the back it was extremely hot like the processor was running in overdrive. Maybe the buzzing is a heat warning?

Oml I just had this happen not even 10 minutes ago, scared me to death, my cats ran and I'm home alone too lol, I have the galaxy s6 edge plus, and it froze on the app that I was on which was Facebook Messenger, and then after a minute or two of me trying to cover up the speaker as I was trying to shut it down it finally rebooted, rlly hoping it never does it again, especially not at my school.

I have the galaxy s6 edge plus as well and it literally happened to me a few minutes ago and it scared me to death! I just started the suicide squad game and it just froze and then that loud buzzing sound started! I had to cover the speaker and go outside because I didn't want to wake people in my house. I hope it never happens again. It was so scary. Also before this I sometimes got like a fuzzy screen on some days (maybe about 4 times) when I pressed the unlock button. Was that leading me up to this??! I have no idea what to do now but to hope it never happens again.

I had something like this becore on a samsung galaxy s4 mini but it was a blue screen with the load buzzing sound. My phone was REALLY hot so I took the battery out it stopped and left it to cool down then it was fine. Mine could be a different thing your about but it is similar.
