Currently Rooted, but what about official ICS release?

The zip worked very well using cwm. If you don't want to dig through a ton of post on xda forums i can post it and provide a link in this thread if anyone wants me to.

I would and did. Many have and I haven't seen any bad remarks about it yet.

Hey Skunkape60,

If I go this route for the radio, can you give me a step-by-step, please?

I presume I download this zip file and place on root of my phone's SD card, right? Then what? Boot into recovery? And then?

Then boot into CWM recovery.... chose 'install zip from sdcard'.... 'choose zip from sdcard'.... and then select the zip file.

Once finished, reboot and you are done.

You can confirm it was successful by go into settings... about phone... and baseband version should now read D720SPRKL2

Sweeeeeeet, thanks! Gonna give it a shot as soon as I update Bugless Beast rom!

Depending on your version the menus could be a little different. Basically just like flashing a rom or kernel except you shouldn't need to wipe anything prior to flashing.

Like you said download and move to the root of your sd card.
Reboot into recovery.
install zip from sd card
choose zip from sd card
find the D720SPRKL2 zip and select it
Reboot phone and go into settings/about phone baseband version should be D720SPRKL2

Pretty straight foward. Like I said, there is really no reason to wipe cache or dalvik.

Let us know how it worked.

Just installed Pete's Bugless Beast 1/31/12 update; but on my phone it says it's Android version 4.0.3. Is that what it's supposed to be? I guess I assumed that his update included the recent leak of 4.0.4. Maybe not. Off to flash the radio now!

Okay, here's an update:

I successfully installed the Bugless Beast 1/31/12 update by first wiping the Dalvik cache, then simply installing the zip from SD. Though like I said above, my version says 4.0.3, not 4.0.4.

[EDIT] For those newbies, like myself, know that by simply wiping the Dalvik cache and then installing the updated ROM, I didn't lose any of my data or settings.

I just also flashed the radio on CWM as recommended -- successfully! Baseband D720SPRKL2.

Thanks, Android Community!

Pete just updated his ROM to the 4.0.4 base as of a few minutes ago

Hey Gabbott,

Are you sure he updated to 4.0.4? I'm asking because I installed the latest update and my phone says 4.0.3. I'm concerned i may have not installed it properly? Though for build, it says 1.31.12.

He might not have changed the version in the code. Trust me Peter is on his game and made whatever changes he needed to. Plus who cares what the version code says. Just know your ROM is bugless!:)

Ha! I trust Peter simply based on everyone's rave reviews about his ROMs. I just wanted to make sure I installed the latest properly. But all is good!

I just flashed the newest version and mine says 4.0.3 also. No biggie. But the build date sayins 1/31/12. All good. Fully updated radio and rom. WooHoo. I don't think I will ever go back to the original rom.

Hey Skinneejay,

Have you noticed that with the BB rom, that the launcher is a bit jerky when you first launch it? As in, not as smooth as how it launched on gingerbread. Just curious to know if it's just me, or maybe just a kink that'll eventually get worked out ...

It installed properly, shows the same on mine. According the the twitter posts that Pete made earlier today, he took out the new stuff from 4.0.4 and applied it to his ROM in this most recent build.

I might have seen it once or twice but nothing to really worry about. I think its more in the code than anything. Still 1000% better than gingerbread. ICS is so much better. Enjoy the rest of your night. I'm off to watch the Hawks/Canucks game. Go Hawks!

::: been using it for a couple of mins now. I can confirm this version seems so much faster. Apps load better. Transitions seem smoother. :::

Yes -- definitely much much faster. Do you have force GPU rendering checked? I have it checked.
