Custom ringtones don't work

Hi,

I have a samsung galaxy S and for some reason when I set a custom ringtone for a particular contact it doesn't play when the contact calls. It says the ringtone is set in the contacts screen, but my default ringtone plays when the contact calls. Am I missing something obvious here? Any help would be much appreciated.

This might be a bit of a stretch, but have you only noticed this issue while the phone is docked with your PC? Because it can't read anything (including ringtones) from your SD Card while it's docked to your computer...

It's not connected to my pc, it just doesn't use the ringtone i specify which gets pretty annoying. I've found i can get it to work if i set the ringtone by going into the music player and using the "set as" option, however this is less than ideal.

make sure you create a "notifiaction" folder under "ringtones" and place the the tone you want to use as the ringtone inside the "notification" folder. This may be the problem.
