Cyanogen on Verizon 2014 Moto X?

Has anyone installed Cyanogen on their 2014 Moto X, specifically the Verizon version?

I'm basically looking for a way to get Marshmallow onto my device, and I think I'm reading that Cyanogen is based on Marshmallow now.

But while I've installed Google images onto my Nexus 7, I've never installed a "custom ROM" - so I'm not that familiar with the limitations and problems it might cause - or if it being carrier-locked is a problem?

Do you have root and an unlocked bootloader? If not you can't install a custom ROM.
