CyanogenMod ROM

Do you want CM6 for the LG Optimus S?

You realize AOSP means Android Open Source Project? Our stock ROM is as close to AOSP as you can get without having a Nexus One... :-)

He knows, AOSP is also a dev on the HeroC forums at XDA. He makes some pretty good roms for the HeroC, a tad bit faster than Cyanogen, but a lot of that has to do with animations (uses stock animations, but sped up), so it appears to be faster than what it is ;) Of course that is IMO only.

[ROM][GPL][STABLE] aospMod v0.9.9.2 | AOSP 2.2.1 (Froyo) [12/10/2010] - xda-developers

Ok, built an ASOP ROM overnight. Now I need to figure out how to patch that with the LG Sources and see if that works. After that will come the start of CM.

Can you link me to where you got the LG patches? I'll take a look at those around Thursday night.

If CM becomes available for the Optimus S, I will IMMEDIATELY need a new pair of pants...Thank you. :)

can someone explain to this noob what exactly cyanogenmod would entail? and what it would look like? =)

Someone on the official CyanogenMod forums said they'd pay to get it, so hopefully I can get another phone do I don't wreck my everyday phone.

zefie, I pulled the boot.img from the update you hosted so I will hopefully be able to get ClockworkMod working at sometime in the near future. But being able to build an Android image using the LG source patches is still causing me issues :(

heh i couldnt get anything to work. the os worked but no sound or anything lol

Zefie were you on a cm kernel or one of our regular ones? Does it make a difference?

Well I have an AOSP 2.2.1 ROM patched with LG code all ready to be flashed... except I can't get an update-script working.

Did you try this?

After kitchen compress and signs rom, pull the META folder from the rom and add your own META folder and resign with a prog called AndroidSigner. I attached the META I used, no syntax error.

shoot me a DL link, I wanna play ;)

Thanks bro I'll try this out, and if it works, I'll shoot you a DL link for the ROM. I can't wait to get an AOSP ROM running on this, since the ability to customize our phone will go from limited (with the stupid LG framework crap) to infinite.

EDIT

I think your META is lacking in the update-script department haha. You're missing the symlink commands, as well as the command to flash the boot.img. I'll see if I can doctor it up a bit.

EDIT EDIT

I got the ROM to flash :) Only problem is that it's evident I packed the boot.img incorrectly, since I can't even get the device to boot (I get "waiting for device" infinitely when running adb logcat). Can anyone help me find some info on how to pack the boot.img for the Optimus S? I used a method I used to use when developing for the Hero.

Wish I knew how to help you with that, but I'm still working on ClockworkMod as my first step in CM.

Feel free to join IRC though.

Ok, so I have been talking with a person from XDA developers, and they have told me I will need to either write or obtain the device tree source code for the Optimus S if we are to have everything working... anyone wanna assist in getting that from LG?

Send them to IRC. We can help them in there.
