I have noticed that cyanogenmod has started doing nightlies again (started Feb 12th) for some phones. No mention of the EVO 4G from them... You can get Kang nightlies via the boards. I wonder if the EVO 4G EOL has put the phone on the "no support" list going forward?

CM9 alpha is available for a few phones. The cyanogenmod team seems to be behind other developers on the board regarding ICS. Perhaps this is due to the lack of specific information from the team. Has anyone tried ICS from another source and decided it was good enough to use daily?

Last I heard, they're (CM) still trying to work out the some of the issues with EVO ICS. I don't recall exactly but there is no ETA for it.

Best/most complete ICS rom would be decks (http://forums.androidcentral.com/ht...cs-4-0-3-2-14-12-wip-ics-deck-evo-alpha7.html). Page 11 /post 107 for the most up to date version at the moment. It's almost complete (no wimax/ some FC's here and there) and overall fairly smooth from the time I had it running.

Decks would do decently as a daily.

I just downloaded Deck's Rom, have you tried it with Chrome browser and if so does it work? I couldn't get it to work with AOPK with build 23.

The two versions of ICS that seem to be the most complete to date are (1) AOKP and (2) Deck's. Both still have issues, but they are getting closer and being used by many daily.

CM9 is unknown at this time, but the last report indicated that they are still working on a number of issues and the release date is unknown (probably some time out). I did notice that the EVO 3D has an CM9 alpha release.

Thanks for the responses. I really want to upgrade to ICS but need it to be stable and functional. The reports of forced closing, rebooting, etc. have kept me on the sideline and waiting. I may try Deck's based on Daemon comments above.

I also am I downloaded decks ics alpha 5, but due to some of the issues that have been mentioned, I have yet to flash it as

I'm watching this thread in case I want to reload my EVO4G. But, what does ICS really do for me on my phone over the current version of android? New functions? better battery? better behaviors? Or is it just the geek pleasure of knowing I'm running the latest there is?

ICS is different, not just another simple upgrade. It seems that some features I have today in CM7.2 are not in ICS 4.0. I will have to wait for CM9.0 to do a proper comparison.

As it stands today, the software still needs a little work to be a daily. I noticed a few screen flickers, battery runs down faster, and a few other annoying things...

I'm pretty much in the same position. I like ICS so far and have been running decks v7 for a while now, but I'm going back to cm7 because its more stable and has some features that that aren't in decks.

Edit: I would say that I'm hoping CM9 comes soon, but I'm betting it'll be a tossup between getting that and a new phone. I want a GNex, but that won't be on sprint till at least April i think, and by then, there might be something else coming soon.

Been running AOKP for the past few days as my daily, am very happy with it.
If you're ok with not having 4G and no hideous camera then I highly recommend it.

Sent from my ICS Evo 4G!!

Hideous camera? Is it taking pictures and messing them up somehow, or just not working the way it should?

AOKP seems to have a good following. They have worked out most of the issues and they have communicated along the way. The thing that worries me about AOKP is when I read things on the board about code being in the builds that serve no user purpose...probably copied or ported from another source but not cleaned up properly. I don't want my phone communicating to outside sources without my knowledge and approval.

Cyanogenmod team has been extremely quiet and the lack of communication is probably driving people to try other ROMS.

Maybe they are going elsewhere, but I'd almost guarantee that 99% will go to CM9 when it drops.

Edit: Apparently there is a new CM7 nightly posted as of today, so maybe we're getting closer.

It appears that CM9 is getting close to release for a number of phones, but no word on the EVO 4G. I may try AOKP again...

ICS code drop Nov 14, 2011.......113 days and counting (almost 4 months).

About to flash AOKP actually. Heard and read great things about it. Hopefully everyone is right, which I'm sure they are. :)
