ARCHIVED: [DEAD ROM] nROM v1.6.3

I use tango, but I'm on thunderROM. a little cumbersome because I have to face the camera when speaking. a working ffc mod would be :awesome: on the optimus but is not a necessity for video calls.

Sent from my Optimus via Tapatalk

I guess you could go video call next to a mirror lol

v1.3.1 released. As requested:
+ dalvik cache to /cache (free up memory for more applications).
+ re-added stock keyboard.
+ moved some applications to data so they can be uninstalled easily.
+ updated ES file explorer.
+ edited settings menu to not allow factory data wipe (in sort of a primitive way :P)
+ added wireless tether application.

LG Setup Wizard Force Close

I loaded v1.3.1 this morning and the LG Setup Wizard force closes and I cannot do anything else with phone. Please take a look

I'm on ThundeROM 1.5 right now, and would like to give nick's ROM a try.

I like the fact that you can just flash it, with no wipe necessary, but wonder if the same is true if you are coming from either stock ROM or ThundeROM? Anyone go TR -> nROM without wiping?

BTW: Nick, edit your sig ;-).

Mine did the same thing wiped everything and loaded it and I get this error. I tried upgrading from 1.2

I am curious as to why you guys wiped your phones before flashing. There is no need to. Flash back to nROM v1.2 and then to nROM v1.3 without doing a factory data wipe/reset. That's your problem, sorry for the inconvenience guys. I'll fix it after class.

1. Flash nROM v1.2
2. Reboot.
3. *DO NOT WIPE ANYTHING* Flash nROM v1.3 *DO NOT WIPE ANYTHING*
4. Reboot.

EDIT: FYI it's due to the dalvik-cache to /cache mod. I think wiping data destroys the symlink or something causing everything to go berserk. Just a theory though. Like I said after class I'll rage look into it.

nick, i'll reply to this post.

how long can we expect boot to take initally?

i made my nandroid backup, didn't wipe anything, went to directly installing your rom.

rebooted, now sitting at the sprint screen for a few minutes. i'll give it a few more before i try other stuff.

ok gave it like 10 minutes. won't go past the sprint screen. rebooted, sprint screen.

not wiping /data is a trial and error my friend. you can switch between some roms without a wipe, even if they tell you you need one. However, you might get an error, like you did.

Therefore you hit the error part of the trial and error. Just wipe /data and you should be fine.

ok wiped everything and reloaded the rom. this time the phone booted but i am met with a:
the application com.android.lgsetupwizard (process com.android.lgsetupwizard) has stopped unexpectedly. please try again.

i force close it and it pops right back up. can't get around it.

I am not a "cooker"....and really have no idea what the hell I'm talking about, but maybe the lgsetupwizard is the thing that first starts on a fresh phone to download sprintIDs and crap?

In that case -> Reboot to recovery, Wipe everything again, reboot phone, go through setup, reboot back to recovery, flash nROM, reboot again, done?

i don't believe so but i could be wrong. not sure just yet what each file is for or what it does.

these were my exact steps.
initally, took my running setup and loaded nrom. hung at sprint screen. restored nandroid backup, wiped data, cache, dalvik, loaded rom, met with lgsetupwizard error.

1. Boot to recovery.
2. Flash nROM v1.2
3. Reboot. Let it fully boot.
4. Boot to recovery.
5. *DO NOT WIPE ANYTHING* Flash nROM v1.3 *DO NOT WIPE ANYTHING*
4. Reboot.

Please follow these simple instructions and I guaruntee it will work. Do not perform any additional steps. Once I release an update you can wipe like crazy.

ok flashed 1.2 and then 1.3 without issues. however my internal storage now shows it has 3.04mb left out of the 165 available. prior to flashes it was at 20mb.

lol i know i have alot of apps and everything i could is moved to sd.

WAT. Your phone is giving me a headache lol.. v1.3 should give you at least an extra 30 mb of data to work with.

Do this for me. Type "df" into a terminal emulator or adb shell and copy paste it in a reply.

lol i apologize for the headaches.

i had to uninstall a few things cause a txt msg was getting rejected due to space.

For some reason the dalvik-cache to cache didn't stick. AURGH. Okay I'm looking into it but it is definitely working for me.

Thanks nick. Ill go back to my nanrroid backup until I hear from you again.
