ARCHIVED: [DEAD ROM] nROM v1.6.3

Alright guys, I'm really proud of this next release :) It is running hecka smooth and I have found absolutely no bugs. I fixed a ton of stuff and rebuilt my whole ROM from a VC base. No porting, no dragging and dropping files, everything is fresh and built from scratch.

**Also I fixed the lock screen bug! No more reboots!**

Look for nROM v1.5.1 on my website and as always, enjoy!

P.S. I highly suggest opening Spare Parts and setting "Window animations" to "off" and "Transition animations" to "fast."

The wireless and the accellerometer are now working great, thanks :) Amazingly, the VC update stuff seems to have also fixed the MASSIVE problems I was having with the proximity sensor when making calls. Works perfectly now so far (knock on wood). Few issues I'm seeing though (and that I also experienced with 1.5):

1) When you go into the dialer app and hit the voicemail button (bottom left in the app), the dialer app crashes immediately. I realize that there's no Voicemail app included, so that sorta makes sense... but is there a way to maybe remap that to launch say Google Voice? Or would we just have to put back on the Voicemail App to fix this? Here's alogcat of that (just above debug mode) when crashing:

I/WindowManager( 1297): home key test1= 1

I/Process ( 2767): Sending signal. PID: 2767 SIG: 9

2) The included Terminal Emulator also crashes immediately for me. Again, here's alogcat of that issue:

I/WindowManager( 1297): home key test1= 1
E/Term ( 2852): onCreate
W/dalvikvm( 2852): Exception Ljava/lang/UnsatisfiedLinkError; thrown during Ljackpal/androidterm/Exec;.<clinit>

I/Process ( 2866): Sending signal. PID: 2866 SIG: 9

3) Would it be possible to extract the original Calculator app from the stock rom and make it a flashable zip? Really miss that one, and evidently can't download it at all from the Marketplace yet.

Please let me know if there's anything else you might need to find out what's going on. When I flashed from Lego to nRom 1.5, I did a full data wipe, then cache, then Dalvik. When flashing now from 1.5 to 1.5.1, I just wiped cache and Dalvik.

Thanks for all your work on this... I'm just ecstatic to have my proximity sensor behaving semi-normally now :)

Hey Nick, on Tapatalk whenever I click the link to your website I keep getting directed to "http://https://sites.google.com/site/optimusnrom/" works if you take out http.

Nick or any other expert, I am downloading this now and will be replacing thunderom. Do I need to do this?

wipe data,cache,dalvik
Is there any harm in doing the above steps?

@tmreader

1. Yeah I didn't realize that the dialer even had a voicemail button lol! Installing the VM application would fix this but I think I might try to include a custom dialer into my next update.

2. If the terminal emulator FCs just uninstall it and reinstall it from the market. Sorry about that :P

3. I'm putting together a calculator app for you right now :D

EDIT: here it is.

OK. Got the ROM installed and so far loving it. Everything seems to look good. How do I install themes that I downloaded? Just go into recovery and flash them just like the ROM?

Correct :) You will be my tester because I am not sure if my old themes will work with this update lol. If you encounter any problems just reflash nROM and you will be back to normal. I'll then go ahead and update my themes.

In theory, they should work.

Consider it done bro. I am now getting the Sprint system update message. Will the file stopbugging.zip I used in Thunderom work?

Really you are getting update notifications? Did you happen to install a build.prop from another page? My build.prop should eradicate those damn messages lol.

And everyone can check the OP for a full list of mods I put together.

I'm using the Dark Horse theme and it works great. After the first time I flashed the theme my screen got hung up on a boot loop on the animation screen. I pulled the battery and rebooted and everything loaded up fine. Theme works great!

Good news everyone!

I'm using AndroGreen with nRom on the VC radio and haven't seen any issues yet.

Does anyone know how I can use the themes without changing the data and signal indicators?
Thanks. :)

All I did was install your ROM and then install the green theme. Booted up fine after a looong wait and then got the system update message again.
So I downloaded new TE from the market and followed the prompts and now having am even longer time booting up.

The first boot always takes long because the phone has to rebuild dalvik-cache. Try rebooting through my power menu mod a few times and see if it is any faster now. And what is TE?

Thanks. :)

Signal indicators are in LGE-res.apk (can be copied as a whole apk to /system/framework) and data indicators are in framework-res.apk (res/drawable-mdpi) which can be dragged in dropped into any other theme.

I am having a problem where it freezes on the LG screen when the phone is off and plugged in to charge. Everything works fine when I pull the battery and restart. I think it is related to the wringer my phone has been through, including bricking after I installed VCRom 007. I cleared the cache, dalvik-cache, etc, but that hasn't fixed it yet. Any thoughts? Is it related to a corrupt battery cache or something like that?

Edit: it only happens when plugged into the computer with the power off. If I plug into the wall it charges normally.

TE=Terminal Emulator.
Besides follwing prompts in the Emulator, what else do I need with build.prop? I thought all I needed was your ROM.
