Sorry for the dumb question, but I've never used that before... is it something I do on the phone while rooted and on a couple-month old revision of ThundeROM?

No dumb questions here...always best to ask. I know I had found a link on this forum for the updater tool download. You put that on your pc then hook your phone up to your pc using usb. Locstr the drivers for the Optimus and then download the ZVD update. Once the update is complete your phone will restart. Power it off and then hold down the power, home, and volume down buttons to get your custom recovery, flash TR 1.8.2. I hope this helps!

I may be doing something wrong, but is there an easier way to upgrade to the latest version of this rom? I have the v1.7 and want to upgrade to the laest rom, but I don't want to wipe everything off my phone and lose all my apps and reinstall all my apps again. So is there a simple way to just upgrade the rom or is wiping everything off the phone a necessary task? Thanks.

Strange issue with USB Storage. When i plug in via USB it recognizes the phone is plugged in but when I click on "turn on USB storage" button it dismounts my SD card and then allows me to access storage on my computer like normal. The button on the phone still says "turn on usb storage" as if I never pressed it and if I press again it says "there is a problem using your SD card for USB storage". When I disconnect USB i have to remount the SD card. Never had this issue until TR1.8.2. I wiped EVERYTHING and actually formatted my sd card using the phone before installing 1.8.2. I updated to VD and was using 1.8 without any issues.

Put TR 1.8.2 at the root of your sd. Update to ZVD using the LG UPdater tool, then unzip TR 1.8.2 from your custom recovery. I did not wipe data.

There IS a way to upgrade and not lose any data. There is a thread in the forum titled "upgrade to vc/vd without losing data" or something along those lines. Thats the method I used. That said I wouldn't do it because it will cause some minor problems. For instance any apps you currently have will no longer update so you would have to re-install.

Flash the ROM, this time don't flash a custom kernel.

Awww no custom kernel? Kinda need it for tun.ko module....not to mention the fact that the phone seems to run much better with the xionia kernel. I guess i could try installing the module by itself but last time it was a PITA.

You'd need to talk to Zefie. That is a bug with the xonia kernel. He's aware of it and working on it.

Change Time Zones?

I was wondering if KS or Beezy might be able to mod the ROM to allow the user to select the time zone that they want to operate in as can be done with other Android handsets (or perhaps this can be done already and I just cannot figure out how to do it). I'll be traveling to countries where I won't have service and it would be nice to be able to continue to use the phone as a clock and calendar. I know GPS will work (using navigation software that stores maps on my SD card) but it sure would be nice to have a clock and appointments in the correct time zone.

If this is way off base for this thread feel free to delete or redirect me somewhere else.

Hmm...I did not experience any problems of that nature using that method.

Yeah I just noticed a few apps would not update such as Angry birds and a few others. Checked the "My Apps" list in the market and they weren't even listed there. I double checked the apps were installed and functioning properly but still couldn't see/update them.

Sounds like an issue if the app was moved to the sd card and not kept on the phone. The update probably broke the link from the sd card to the market for those apps. just me thinking out loud.

Theres an app in the market that will do this for you. I'd have to find the post but someone in iraq was using this phone and had a similar issue to what your requesting.

I too cannot update Angry Birds.

It might be the apps fault not the ROM's because others in the Market "review" section are also complaining about it. Hopefully Rovio will soon fix this.

Have not experienced any issues with that. I use the native messaging app though.

i pulled the battery out for 60 sec and put it back in so far havent had the problem

bad usb cable wouldn't have caused data loss for that process, now if you were copying data off your phone using a usb cable and you found corrupt files sure but you should be moving using the provided mcsd to sd converter, it's much faster.
