First, huge thanks to you guys for all your work. I jumped in with TR1.5 and loved it. Just updated to 1.6.2 and all my apps run much smoother and everything in general is great. I didn't like the transparent notification menu at first, but now, I love it.

The only thing is my battery is being KILLED all of a sudden. I even installed the deluxe props package, but it's still just dying awful quickly. I used to be able to go all day with my phone without it dropping below 50 or 40 or so, but now, it is pushing 30% at about noon. I figure it is probably the overclocking? I haven't changed anything except updating my rom/props, so I figure it's something there. I could be wrong though.

There is a kernel in post #2 you can download which is the ThundeROM kernel but it boots at 600MHz

So, I accidentally hit "More Information" on the Update prompt screen (update just showed up about an hour ago). It didn't install thankfully, but now there's an icon up in the Notification bar that won't go away, and it never gives me the choice to "Install Later" again. Ugh. Is there any way to get rid of this icon? Can I manually delete the update file by clearing the cache with Recovery? Any ETA on an update for this or Lego in order to keep these update notifications at bay?

Thanks.

So, I take it you guys are getting the update prompt on ThundeROM? I wasn't sure if we would be prompted with the OTA update since we were rooted and ROM'ed.

I still haven't gotten it, and it's been a couple days now . . .

I haven't gotten it either, fwiw. I thought that there were provisions in ThundeROM that disabled OTAs...

Feature Request:

Is it possible to add a Power Control type thing to the notifications bar? I've seen it in CM6+ as well as my friend's stock Samsung Vibrant with. Also, another feature I quite like on my friend's Vibrant was the ability to swipe a contact left to call, and right to txt while viewing them in the contacts/dialer app.

pretty sure that first feature has been requested before, and replied as to saying it's a ton of code to make it happen. so it's a possibility for a future major release, probably 2.0, but i wouldn't expect it in any minor buxfix release like 1.7 or something..

Yes, I'm getting nagged to update as well. Perhaps after the update is incorporated into a future update we can get it to go away.

@ Everyone

Sorry, must of forgot to change up that so ota's wouldn't bug you. In the meantime you can do the following in a terminal(command prompt) you will probably still get a notification but even if the update downloads it will not install.

Code:
adb remount

Code:
adb shell

Code:
mv /system/etc/security/otacerts.zip /system/etc/security/otacerts.zip.bak

If you want to double check that it worked run this command after

Code:
ls /system/etc/security

It should show

otacerts.zip.bak

instead of

otacerts.zip

I did the same thing when I found out about the ota only I had given it the extension .no just to be on the safe side. What is odd is that my husband has an unrooted stock Optimus and he is still at v9 with no notifications.

I remember on other platforms that this wasn't a very battery friendly way of avoiding the update, as it would constantly have to retry downloading the update (16MB) only to fail the signature checks. This not only used up data on your plan (which fortunately is unlimited) but also ate up your battery.

I don't know how it behaves on Optimus.

This is so stupid. Isn't the biggest change from 2.1 ----> 2.2 the fact that devices can get full flash? Why have 2.2 if you can't do what it allows. #sostupid

I think theres some confusion. The requirements are set by adobe, not google. Google said "in 2.2 we'll allow for full support of Flash 10.x" and adobe said "in order to properly support adobe flash 10.x, you need to have a v7 or better processor". We have v6. So we don't meet adobe's requirements for flash 10.x.

With the recent advancements in technology lot's of people are hopeful that version 10.2, which is said to be coming sometime soon, will support different processors.

I think with the above I've answered your question but if you still wonder why have froyo, despite not having flash (because of adobe), google search just in time compilation ;)

So just to be sure....even though we are getting the nag for the system update, we should not do it until you guys update this rom?

And will the above fix (for stopping the nag from popping up) work without killing my battery?

One last question (getting them all out while I have the chance) at first when I flashed this rom my battery was doing awesome but in the past several weeks it seems to get worse....do you suggest putting the thundeRom kernal on or is that what I already have when I downloaded the rom to my sd card and booted from it?

I guess I'm confused what is the difference between the ROM and the Kernal or are they the same?

Thanks...and if I havent mentioned it awesome ROM.
