So I did the update to VC OTA, still had root. Then I installed ThundeRom 1.7 and my phone booted up and it works.

Is there going to be any future problems since I updated this way?

Are you saying you accepted the vc update via your phone over the air or did you do it through the LG Update tool? I did mine through thre LG Update tool and it has been 2 days now and I haven't had any problems. Interesting if you updated over the air and maintained root. From what I've read on here if you accept the update ota then you lose root.

Need a little help here.. trying to flash thunderom 1.7. I use the lg optimus control center to boot into recovery mode and I am getting no option to flash.. thunderom zip is on the root of my sdcard also.. My device is rooted..but i am also getting a error tryin to update superuser.. its saying su-2.3.10-bin.signed.zip has been placed on your sdcard .. please reboot into recovery mode and flash to update your su binary. In recovery mode theres no option to flash that either!! arg

OK use the Control Center to install a Custom Recovery. Go to the advanced tab and you will see it there. Then you should be able to reboot into recovery (it will look different) There will be an option to "Flash zip from sd card". As long as TR1.7 is on the root of your card it will show up. Then you can flash away.

Did you wipe davlik and cache? Alternatively, do you have a nandroid backup from before you tried the upgrade that you could restore?

Problem is superuser is not popping up on my phone. Its suppose to ask for my permission when its suppose to be rebooting into xiona recovery but it doesnt. Nothing happens on my phone.. I think my problem is this superuser su update giving me errors. "su-2.3.10-bin.signed.zip has been placed on your sdcard .. please reboot into recovery mode and flash to update your su binary"

Hmm well I haven't used the LG control center, so I'm not sure what you should do. Try posting your issue on that thread if you haven't allready.

Come to think of I did read on that thread that you may have to go through the root process more than once to get it to actually root. Read his first post instructions.

Here it is

"Extra Notes:
The root process may not be successful the first time around. Make sure it's REALLY rooted before installing custom recovery. If Superuser is not installed upon first boot after rooting, run the root utility again."

Because Thunderom doesn't update you modem to talk to Sprint you should follow:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/lg-...hunderom-v1-7-2-20-2011-a-187.html#post645538

If you just flash 1.6.2 over 1.7, instead of using a nandroid backup, you'll get a weird mix and bad stuff might happen. It's an issue zefie talks about in his xionia thread, flashing v9 over vc leads to strangeness.

Provided you have a custom recovery, you don't need functional superuser to reboot. Just turn off with power button -> home + volume + power until the dark screen after LG logo pops up to boot into recovery.

I just finished updating my phone to VC without loosing root or my custom recovery using the instructions in this thread:

http://forum.androidcentral.com/lg-...ptimus-s-vc-without-losing-all-your-data.html

I'm absolutely loving Thunderom 1.7. Here's to hoping overclocking comes back in the next build! :)

I do have a question. Can I update the PRL in the settings menu or is there some other procedure that must be followed?

Hey, just giving an update. Day 3, no issues at all :D To recap, was on TR 1.6.2 v9, updated to vc using LG Update tool, did the 3 clears and flashed TR 1.7. Have completely shut down and powered up several times successfully to test. This ROM is fantastic! Again, many thanks to the devs and everyone else who has helped and been a part of the process. You all are awesome!

Glad you guys like it. Guess all the hard work and testing pays off :)

Were going to be bringing something cool to you guys REAL soon that, as far as i know, no other development team has done. Keep your eyes peeled. I have no official timeline except "soon" ;)
