If I'm not mistaken, yes... but you lose root.

Plus there can be some issues if it does work.

Haha, I was operating on the presumption that the poster who asked the question was wanting to retain root which is why I said "no." ;) I have also seen lots of posts where people had problems just applying 1.7 over 1.6.2 and v9.

Hey Carrie, yes I definitely want to keep root. I really like 1.6.2 the way it is and also want to make sure that I can keep up with everything that Beezy and KSmith put out...so it's kind of a catch 22. I know I will need the update for further releases but don't want to use TR 1.7 until it can be overclocked or at least, as amazing as 1.6.2 has been for me.

To KSmith or Beezy.

Will you continue to update TR allowing for the same kind of ability to flash without having to reroot the phone? Thanks everyone.

You wouldn't lose root if you flashed back to 1.6.2 after updating, but you probably have the annoying "hands free" pop up on you or data connection issues.
If you updated to VC then applied 1.7 you could either flash zefie's kernel or flash one of the kernels i had up for 1.6.2.
We will do everything possible to make the updates as easy to apply as possible, but we can't really say for sure anything right now cause radio flashing is a issue that has to be worked out and it's not a easy fix if at all possible. As everyone can see this update shows how they can tie the radio in real good with the rest of the system which cause's a lot of problems. We take things a day at a time and can only hope for the best.:p

Considering all of the chaos this latest update has caused I am amazed at how well you guys are keeping up! Job well-done. You are helping a lot of people and I and a lot of others I'm sure appreciate it.

Lol, just covering all basis....

FYI - I know Beezy said he was going to do this but i don't know if he ever mentioned it was done, there is a flashable zip attached to post #2 which will enable all the bottom buttons to wake the phone up if thats what you want.

I am also running the new xionia ( http://forum.androidcentral.com/lg-...9-oc-kernel-xionia-kernel-2-6-32-26-v008.html ) so I can OC my phone. It feels stable at 768, though it gets hot to touch.

For some reason zefie hasn't updated the kernel link, but you can get it at: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11516160/OptimusS/xionia_kernel_008_bootimg.zip

I tried Zefie's #7 and #8 kernels (with/without wiping cache and dalvik) and on both I get the "low storage" warning on ThundeROM 1.7.

I tried Beezy's kernel from LegoRom (Boot-600-Max) and lose Auto-Rotate.

Has anyone flashed an OC kernel on TR1.7 with success? If so, which one? TIA.

Yes you are right! I definitely appreciate it...the support by you guys is better than all the forums I've ever dealt with. I don't know how you guys maintain a life with all you do here :P Good job! I love ThundeRom!

Could someone post the custom minfreemanager settings from this rom? I switched roms but it'd be nice to switch to those settings. They were signifigantly higher than the aggressive preset, with the last setting being around 150. Thanks in advance.

Version Number?

I flashed over to 1.7 but in the ABOUT PHONE it says version 1.6.2. Did you forget to update the build number or is it my mistake?

Thanks for all you guys do. This phone is great because of you.

K, please help me out here. I flashed to 1.7 and then flashed the buildprops-stock.zip that was on my sdcard. My version number says 1.6.2. Is everything ok or do I need to reflash 1.7? Did I flash a wrong buildprops file? How else can I tell that I am actually running 1.7?

I referenced the wrong post, btw. I should have referenced the one where you mentioned that the buildprops still had the old version number. I just downloaded 1.7 today so it was a fresh copy.

Thanks.

Starting with this version there are only 2 build props

BuildProp-ThundeROM.zip - This is the buildprop that gets applied with ThundeROM when you flash it. It includes JIT, HW accelleration, and wifi scan interval adjusted for battery.

BuildProp-ThundeROM-Deluxe.zip - This is just what you'd think. Everthing listed above, plus stagefright.

You probably flashed an old buildprop from a previous version of thunderom. No biggie. Just look above at my description, decide which one you want to flash, go into recovery with the quick boot application provided with the ROM, and flash that zip.

Thanks a bunch. I'm showing 1.7 and feeling much better.

Running 1.7 from 1.6.2

I have successfully moved from 1.6.2 V9 to 1.7 VC. This would not have been possible for me without KSmithInNY and beezy's hard work on the ROM, Robchaos_'s clear instructions, CarrieK for bravely trying it all out, and dersgniw for confirming that we could do the update without reinstalling everything.

The only hiccup I had was not verifying the MD5 checksum when I first downloaded the 1.7 ROM. I had a bad download and needed to get it again in the middle of the process. That's on me.

KSmithInNY, beezy -- have a beer or two on me. Donation is on the way.

Everyone else, thanks for your participation. It makes the world a better place

Same here. Just updated to 1.7 VC from 1.6.2. Rom looks awesome and love the icons. Even at stock kernel, the menus seem to be faster than 1.6.2. Maybe it's just my brain slowing down from reading this thread over and over before updating lol

Delete some apps? Move more apps to the SD? Clean out the cache of some of the programs?

Android "Low Storage" seems to be a warning for near filling of the phone flash memory. Though it seems to happen other times as a bug.

I didn't get your error, but then I just got the phone on Saturday so it's pretty empty. I was the first person to complain about 1.7, 6 hours before KSmith announced the release.

No, that's not the issue. Hopefully one of the guru's can chime in soon on this, because I'm experiencing the same thing. Something that used to be accessible on the SD Card is no longer accessible with TR 1.7 and xionia kernel's 007 and 008 (not going to try 006 as zefie doesn't even recommend it). I can access the contents of the SD Card fine via ES File Explorer, and the apps that are on the SD Card run fine off of there, so the card is definitely mounting.

However, when I installed 008 (or 007) via CWM recovery (then wiped cache and dalvik cache), after the reboot, it took a long time (much longer than normal) for the apps running from the SD card to show up on the list of apps. During this long period, if I checked the free space on the phone by using "Settings->SD card and phone storage", repeatedly checking it showed the free space steadily decreasing, in my case all the way down to 4MB (at which point a "Low on space" alert is thrown and all the apps on the SD card finally appear).

Something is definitely not right with this kernel :(

Also just discovered that all my backups in Titanium Backup are no longer showing up as available. Ugh.
