Hey guys I have the Thurnderom version 1.6.2 and want to update to 1.7 but I am getting confused on how to do this because I don't if I updated the phone right. I currently have Baseband Version: V9 but SW version VC which I updated using the LG update tool. My understanding is that both things must say VC in order to update directly, like many on this thread have laid out instructions for. Can some clarify this for me? Thanks.

You definitely need to update the baseband before flashing to 1.7 for your phone to work properly. After a lot of handwringing, I updated using the instructions from the link below and it worked like a charm. My battery life is a lot better on VC too.

Well my LG Update tool keeps saying that it is up to date. Even thought the base band is V9. I guess it is looking at the SW which is VC.

Did you follow all the steps including flashing back to Thunderom 1.6.2? It was really easy for me when I used it as a step-by-step guide. THe longest part of the process was waiting for the LG updater to flash the phone.

Sorry if I sound stupid is just that I am somewhat new to all this, but the steps on the link you sent me do not say to go back to Thunderom 1.6.2. And I am already on Thunderom 1.6.2. Is just that my baseband shows V9 while the SW version shows VC and LG won't update. Am I missing something here?lol

Oops, apparently I fail at reading comprehension. :) If your software version is VC, you should be good to just flash to Thunderom 1.7. :) Sorry for the confusion.

Haha. That's ok. Just to make sure now though. When I update to 1.7 will my baseband go to VC also or will that always stay at V9 while the sofware version go to VC. I am a little confused on how thety are dif
ferent. Thanks in advance.

Your baseband will go to VC after the flash. When I tried to flash to 1.7 on V9, the baseband changed to VX while the software version stayed V9.

So I might have missed something when I upgraded to TR 1.7, just wanted to put that out there right away. After I went through the process of the LG Updater and flashing TR 1.7, my software version now says VC, but my baseband is still V9. My phone has been working great with great reception and battery life. Should my baseband be on VC or is it ok to be running on V9 baseband as long as software is VC. Thanks for any input!

I've used TR 1.7 and 1.6.2 on V9 and both worked great! That's just me of course.

The only time I had issues was when I decided to make it official and update to VC with the LG Update Tool and then re-flash TR 1.7. My Phone kept getting stuck on the LG Home screen and eventually never booted again. I am now on a refurb Optimus which was actually still V9 and I'm keeping it that way. (z4root still works on V9)

My recommendation from someone who's read these threads and tried almost all the ROMS is - Stick with V9 on TR 1.6.2 or V9 on CM7. Just my advice, I'm sure others will disagree, but I've never had an issue with V9 and all sorts of problems on VC.

Flashing a ROM does not change your baseband. The baseband you have before the flash will be the same as after the flash. If you have not updated to VC either via OTA, the LG Updater, etc., you will remain at the V9 baseband.

Okthis make sence. My base band is V9 but the software is VC and the LG update tool says it is up to date. How can I update the baseband?thanks.

Actually, the Baseband will say VC if you're using TR 1.7 without updating through the LG tool. The software version will say V9. I was confused when I flashed 1.7 without VC as well.

This has been discussed before. It may say VC Baseband since that label is just hard coded into the ROM somewhere, but again the only way to get a true VC Baseband is to flash VC via the OTA, LG Updater, etc and to get a fully functioning TR1.7. In particular see this...http://forum.androidcentral.com/636807-post1739.html

Again, decided to run a Quadrant scan... Test came out to be 439 and doesn't top 500. I do the same old thing I normally do and just run along my day. Tested it this morning.... now it says 6**, but never tops 700+.

I have no extra app's installed. (as too I didn't want to download my stuff then it fail)

This is default TR1.7, on VC. Confirmed.

Considering to Nandroid it and reupdate to VC and run basic for awhile, before going TR.

If all else fail's I guess I'm going to have to give up this ROM. For now atlest.

600's is actually a very good Quadrant score for this phone and a real one. The scores over 1000 are false, inflated scores with Stagefright enabled which fails to run in Quadrant and it returns a 0 run time which inflates the score. A score in the 600's is very good especially without overclocking.

That is exactly what happened to me. I actually got a new phone out of it, but I had to pay $35. Now, I am afraid to update to VC. :-\

The post says to update via LG update tool but my LG update says "The Cell phone is the latest version already. So you don't need to update." even though the baseband is V9. I think it is looking at the SW which is VC. I don't know how to get out of V9. ANy ideas? Thanks!
