OK, I am confused. Sorry for the question. Searched and tried to find something. I just reverted back to LS670ZV9 following the guides to downgrade. That worked great. My baseband is LS670MV9_6040. The guide says that it must be the MVC - how do I change my baseband, or can I just install the rom. Very confused.

You can use the LG update tool to update to VC. Then update the rom.
The LG update tool can be downloaded here http://www.lgmobilephones.com/softwaredownload.aspx

The post says to update via LG update tool but my LG update says "The Cell phone is the latest version already. So you don't need to update." even though the baseband is V9. I think it is looking at the SW which is VC. I don't know how to get out of V9. ANy ideas? Thanks!

If you are sure your baseband is V9, I would guess the easiest way to get to v9 SW is flashing a V9 based ROM, e.g., say TR1.6.2 or Lego. Another very easy way is to restore a V9 nandroid if you saved one.

600's is actually a very good Quadrant score for this phone and a real one. The scores over 1000 are false, inflated scores with Stagefright enabled which fails to run in Quadrant and it returns a 0 run time which inflates the score. A score in the 600's is very good especially without overclocking.

I was just saying, how it changes.... I haven't ran in apps.... like everything has been the same thing everyday, just yesterday afternoon.... its 450 then the next morning its 600...

Right now it wont push 550, but I am sure if i RESTESTED tonight... it be higher or lower.

If you've made no changes to the ROM or downloaded apps, it would point to flaky hardware or the VC update itself which has revealed itself as not running the same on all phones due to who knows what reason (HW, settings, ?)

Well so much for my guess with Lego, since I never really used it. I am pretty sure you will get a V9 SW and baseband tags out of TR1.6.2, but not entirely certain as I am using my own custom rom. Maybe worth a try?

I guess it is too late now to go with this options since I flashed the 1.7 and it now shows VC for the baseband and also VC for the SW. So I guess it is fixed. Thanks for the help. I don't know why it did that but I guess I am happy.

Yes, confusing, maybe. Can you update PRL/Profile? How about power down/up? Remind me, did you use LG Updater or something else to get VC?

Well the PRL just told me there were no updates available and went I went to update the profile it said it was not able to. But I would not trust my stats given that my Optimus S was flashed to Metro PCS and I followed another post to enable the web and stuff so I would not be surprised if it did not work due to a different issue.

Just did a MESS of unrooting, went all the way to stock V8 unroot, then V9 unroot, and then I grabbed VC with a root follow up. I have Thunderrom 1.7 running again... and everything look's good so far. Got my Quadscore to 750's right now...

The default sprint phone was like 500 Quad, so I was thinking with TR1.7 and the apps that I use to utilize battery and performance. I should get a 750 score...

Going to test drive it for a bit and see what's going on, but so far so good.

I see conflicting posts regarding the need for VC on 1.7. Can you run 1.7 on V9 or not? Is this causing issues? I am running 1.6.2 on V9 and love it. Is it worth upgrading / updating?

You need VC to run 1.7 and IMHO ... VC is the release the phone should have had when it launched so, yes, I believe it's worth it.

Better battery, better reception (thanks to updated radio), no sd card issues .... The list goes on. Apart from the little recovery image stunt, there's nothing about VC NOT to like.

IMO,
better battery unknown (by polling tweaks?),
better reception for some,
better sd card for some

On the down side...

4) the recovery image stunt (as you mention)
3) poorer graphics, at least on old display hardware,
2) LG Logo Hang for some
and the #1 reason to dislike VC
1) exploit patch making future rooting/upgrades difficult at best.

What did VC add to the phone? I see a number of people getting the "LG boot screen freeze" issue with VC as well. Does anyone know the cause?

Allow me to play devils advocate...

# 3) my graphics appear the exact same, and my optimus is from 2 days BEFORE launch.
# 2) from what I understand, the hang issue impacts only rooted phones. As far as i'm aware, LG didn't root anybodys phone.
# 1) Google patched psneuter and RATC. Welcome to android .. The next patch will fix the next exploit and so on and so on into the sunset. This is how it works on every android handset. This is not unique to LG or sprint. Every single android phone I've owned has done this and typically, it's done with every release. HTC locks their hboot, motorola encrypts the bootloader, other companies patch their kernel. Your missing the mark and not recognizing the fact it wasn't patched before launch, and wasn't patched with v9. If I worked for a mobile phone company PSN and RATC would be blocked on every phone and encrypted bootloaders for all unless that phone is being marketed directly to developers like the nexus line but I digress.

Also...
All that and no mention of radio integration? Theres no reason to integrate the radio the way they did into an apk. It serves no functional purpose. I'm still not sure the reason behind it but this is definitely something LG and sprint should be blamed for.

Wow so harsh :)

But I think that companies actually kind of encourage this. Look at IOS jailbreak and android rooting. Do you really think that if Apple and Google really wanted to abolish JB and rooting it wouldn't be done already?
