i finally got my phone perfectly rooted, after bricking one days before (this time i read every piece of instruction from every thread *cough* factory rest bad *cough*)
i flashed thunderom 1.7 after updating to the vc from v9 via the lg updater tool (breath)
i've had absolutely NO issues, except, i want to use my home button to wake up the phone, as far as im aware with "stock" thunderom 1.7 you can only use the power/lock button on the top of the phone to wake the screen
i downloaded that .zip provided
powered the phone off
used 3-finger salute to reboot into recovery
boots normally

i did this multiple times, and to no avail.
i've searched the threads and can't figure out if this is a thunderom problem or something else. nor have i found a solution to this problem.

help?

if not i'll just deal with using the top button lol

The rom has an application called quickboot, use quickboot to get into recovery (it's an option in the app) and then flash the zip.

just used quickboot, hit recovery, booted normally and not into recovery mode

I have that happen sometimes with quickboot too. Go to Super User and long press on the quick boot app. A menu should pop up. Choose "forget" and exit Super User. Then try quick boot again and you will get the Superuser popup asking to allow it.

Nice suggestion. I was a bit stumped because i haven't had that problem but your absolutely right. If there is an issue with the apps permissions or it was never granted SU permission in the first place, it wont boot into recovery. Nice one deb!

Just tried it. Rebooted normally (not Into recovery mode)

Should I power down, battery out, battery in, 3 finger salute?

...please ignore the newbie behind the curtain...

i finally pulled my head out of my butt and though "maybe i somehow lost the custom recovery i flashed"

check the root

no more custom recovery

reflashed the thunderc recovery

rebooted into recovery

everythings all good

on a side note, i also flashed the stock button zip, VERY NICE!
this rom is now my favorite, keep up the good work!

I guess that means a new version of this rom is coming soon, so I will not bother reinstalling the apps since I just flashed version 1.7 lol

I have TR 1.7 and I am giving this phone to my daughter how do I wipe it so that she can log in with her gmail? Is there anyway to keep apps on it or is wiping going to get rid of everything not part of TR?

Thanks

The easiest way to change accounts is to go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Gmail and clear all data. Then it should make you do the setup again.

Go into recovery and wipe data, cache, and dalvik then reboot. You would essentially be handing her a completely clean phone running thunderom. Any apps, contacts, emails, texts you would have had on the phone would be wiped clean. Please remember wiping does nothing to the sd card so your pix will still be on the SD ... Might want to grab those :)

It's best to hand her a clean phone and let her download her own apps plus I don't think your considering your contacts, texts,.passwords... Things like that. I know it's your daughter but id encourage you to be safe and wipe it.

Will there be a TR 1.8 with the VD version?

I was wondering the same thing ;) I am enjoying TR 1.7 and while I know that it will work with ZVD I don't want to give up my hotspot. Perhaps there will be TR 1.8 on ZVD with a built-in compatible hotspot???? A gal can hope, right? And smile sweetly :-*

Not only will there be, it's already built and Beezy and myself are running it through our testing process now :D
