This Rom is awesome and Flawless..i'm just having a problem with the new Tethering App - it's probably me, but I can't get my Galaxy Tab to recognize the AndroidTether SSID .. it doesn't even show up. I followed the settings.. Optimus S profile.. Adhoc etc.. Could the problem be the Galaxy S not seeing the Ad-hoc?

The ROM itself is perfect as far as I can see! Great work!
Many devices won't see ad-hoc. That would be my guess.

Any help on tethering guys? I am getting those 2 errors as mentioned earlier and my laptop cannot see my Optimus network.

ROM works and looks good. Only thing I have a question on is if in a future update is it possible to make the notification bar on the lock screen unlocked? I use lockbot pro for it currently but the sliders on the regular lock screen look much better.

I'm running ThundeROM 1.8 with VD and I'm still able to tether just using the Widgetsoid WiFi widget. In fact this is being sent using the tether.

Download the regular hotspot widget from the market by harald mueller and try it. With 1.8 i was trying to make the default hotspot work like it always did and in my tests i had very inconsistent results. With that said, i was testing right after switching to the VD radio and my phone was acting funky. It would connect to the sprint network then disconnect, then be on 1xrtt, then say it couldn't find a network. Real crazy. In addition to upgrading my radio, i was also reactivating my phone on the network because i was testing/playing with a different device :p .... back to my point... it was during this 3 hour period i was testing to see if i could get the hotspot widget working and i thought it was a fail. Now that my phone has normalized after being reactivated, i actually think it did work afterall and my radio issues skewed my testing.

I just used the hotspot widget several times and it worked no problem. In fact, this was typed on my nook color tethered to my optimus running ThundeROM 1.8 using only the wifi hotspot widget. Give it a try but i think it actually worked :)

EDIT- more testing, more working fine. Im sorry about the confusion but at the same time, a bit mad at myself for not connecting the dots during the testing phase. Oh well, download the widget for now and the next version will include it.

Tethering now. I'm using the QuickSettings app. I haven't tried the others because QuickSettings works well enough for m.

There is a problem with the wireless (driver?) on the optimus and certain WiFi cards. I get 20-30% packet loss (which if you weren't looking out for, just looks like a very slow inconsistent connection) when connected to a Dell/Broadcom 1390 WiFi card for tethering. The packet loss is just pinging the phone itself and not going out on the Internet, so it wasn't the 3g connection affecting the test. When I connect using an Intel 2200BG right next to the Dell, there is no packet loss and the connection is pretty fast.

It is probably worth verifying if the inconsistency you were seeing was WiFi connection related of related to the tethering and Sprint.

In my case, it was the WiFi connection that was the issue with some devices but not others.

KSmithInNy, thanks, love the ROM! Running great. The only thing I miss is the ability to overclock. Any word on when an overclocking kernel will be available?

Beezy is working on it but not ETA's yet. Kernels are tricky so even after he's got something for everyone, we have to test really well because kernels control and touch a lot of things. We run this rom full time so if we have a messed up released that borks your phone, our phones are in the same condition. Hang in there.

yea i can confirm hotspot is working here too. Posting this connected to it. Maybe VD didn't patch the hotspot exploit? What did it do then? lol

It works in stock VD for me.

That shouldn't be possible. Should get an error launching it.

EDIT- i should be more specific. The error you'd get is" network unavailable". This is the same error you used to get when trying to launch tethering through the settings menu on all previous versions of optimus roms. This was because sprint put a soft block on it where the option in the settings menu made a call to validate service when activated BUT only when activated physically through the menu. What the widgets did was activate the same menu options, but did so from "behind the scenes", if you will, which didn't trigger the service verification. They now have the verification elsewhere, that elsewhere i just referenced, that's what we fixed and that's why it will work on ThundeROM.

Cheers!

Sweet..ill give the mueller app a shot.. it worked so flawless on all of your other roms. I never heard of that widget until I started using thunderom. it's so simple and every device I throw at it can recognize it.

Ksmith, maybe you can clear this up for me. Sprint still lists VC as the most recent update. You can only get VD through LGs tool right now, could that be the reason I can't seem to update PRL or profile using VD?

No, that isn't the reason you can't update PRL/Profile. It is an NVRAM problem, either in the NVRAM or in the access to the NVRAM. You need to clear NVRAM data profiles and let Hands Free + Update Profile do its thing.

I can update PRL/Profile fine in VD. Just did it now to verify.
