Decided I'm not keeping my G6

Not because it isn't awesome. It's honestly a great phone. I pretty much loved it. Problem is my G5 is great too. I'm not one to get too excited about the physical build of a phone. Plastic, metal, glass. I don't care. I slap a case on it anyway so wtf. Once I put them both in a slim fit case and used them side by side I just couldn't justify spending the cash. Just putting this out there for those G5 owners who care about functionality over beauty.

Let's not forget the battery. The awful battery was the prime reason I traded my G5 last year. This G6 is so much better for that alone

Functionality as far as running android and most Google apps? The ability to make calls, text, take pictures, etc? I'm not sure if that's what you meant, but most Android phones from as far back as 2012 do so in an acceptable manner.

The gap between the G5 and G6 isn't worth the cost for you. That's perfectly ok. People say that about the S7 edge and S8, Moto Z and Moto Z play.

When I think of functionality, its more about what can be accomplished using said device. I never owned a G5 so I can't make the comparison, but there are some features that I require such as waterproofing that suit my lifestyle. Are you saying that the features of the G6 are not substantial enough to upgrade from the G5? That's totally fine too.

Like it was mentioned before, the G6 is more than just a beautiful looking device. There are some things that would make me choose it over the G5.

I'm not ignoring anything. I love the G6. It's a great device. I'm saying for ME the items you listed aren't worth a $360 bump especially when I'm getting locked into payments for 2 years. When I put the G5 and G6 side by side I couldn't justify the price. When all the G6 batteries are at 50% of their original capacity because they have 300+ cycles on them a year from now I'll be able to slap a fresh battery in my G5 in 60 seconds. Now that I'm typing this out I'm thinking I may have kept the G6 if the battery was replaceable. That damn sealed battery is the one "feature" that keeps us all in the neverending upgrade cycle.

G6 camera is actually worse with low light shots and the G6 front camera is significantly worse
The G6 camera app is amazing though and helps mitigate that somewhat (apart from that dire front facing camera)

The audio capability of the G6 is head and shoulders above the G5 though which was a difference maker for me.

But tbh I prefer the build of the G5. These fingerprint magnet builds just end up making the phone ugly

Some would disagree and say the plastic is better design since they hate glass. Just look at people holding onto the Note 4. They love it for that versus the glass phones of today... So in actuality it's all preference. Just like pretty much everything in life.

Exactly, glass looks nice until you start using it and it gets smeared with fingerprints

The G6 build is great, I just dont like the use of glass on devices.
For me, it doesnt feel as good, nor look as good as metal

I was one of the people who loved the g5 and still do and own one but g6 is leaps and bounds better in every conceivable aspect than the g5. Battery life alone if norhing else is worth it.

I was trying to be helpful to others in my situation. I don't need community approval to enjoy my phone.

He stated he prefers the build of the G5.... That makes it a preference.

The build was atrocious. Gaps in the seam for the mod, Sharp edges around the ports, warping around the camera and near the battery mod seam.
