Decided I'm not keeping my G6

The build was atrocious. Gaps in the seam for the mod, Sharp edges around the ports, warping around the camera and near the battery mod seam.

Have to admit mine was flawless. I'm really glad I ignored all the bad reviews about it and tried it for myself. Battery made me switch eventually but if I hadn't liked the G5 otherwise I would probably wouldn't have got the G6 now

Most of the people knocking the G5 never owned one. A great portion of those who talk build quality case their phones so it's pretty preposterous.

G5 is a great phone, the reviews were bad. I think it was a classic case of trusting your opinion after having the device over what reviewers are saying. Mine is still in pristine condition and I'm trying to sell it. haha, but other than that I and my wife do like the G6 better.

I actually had 5 LG g5's. 2 at launch from exchanging the original one with a huge gap on the back. Then I came back to it a few times after that when I was bored of the iphone. Each time the g5 had an issue. warped paint on the back, etc. I even have one now that I bought unlocked off amazon brand new for $309 as a temporary phone till my g6 arrives later today after having upgraded my original g6 to an s8 which I was unhappy with. And even this g5 still has the warped back near the battery seams on the back and wobbly home button.

Yep. My G5 has a .000001 millimeter gap at the battery seam which I forgot all about once my case went on. I'm not saying build quality isn't important. Nobody wants junk. But a LOT of people seem to have bought into the marketing hype concerning how a phone looks. I think of my phones as useful devices. Not fashion accessories.

How dare you not love the G6 enough to keep it and proclaim it the greatest handheld device in the known universe!!! Blasphemer!!

We should all be glad the reason I'm not keeping it is because the G5 is good too. Everything is too good 😂

Is the camera of the G5 really better than the G6? I remember reading that alot of G4 owners thought LG had went backwards on the camera on the newer models.

In most ways no but I certainly think there's a loss of detail in the photos since the mega pixel drop from the G5.

I can see where the OP is coming from. I use the G6 and absolutely love it. But I also liked my G5 a lot. Loved the replaceable battery. Yeah the G6 has its perks and build and IP68 etc but I got lots of love for the G5. OP, more power to you.

Preferences make the world go round. Use what you love, life's to short to use something you don't like.

What he stated wasn't a preference, its an alternative fact. The g6 HAS a better build in every sense of the word. Now if he just likes the look of it or the feel of plastic in the hands that's different but dont say it has a better build.

He said, "I prefer." Do people still have the right to prefer what they choose even though it might not be your preference? That's what the issue is. Do you have preferences in your life? What do you say to those who might say your preferences are wrong? Exactly. So why don't you apply that same reaction to others whose preferences are different.
And he said nothing about a better build. Where in his post did he say anything about the G5 build being better?
You should use your LG spouse, I mean your LG G6 to Google 'acceptance' and 'tolerance.'

I'm not ignoring anything. I love the G6. It's a great device. I'm saying for ME the items you listed aren't worth a $360 bump especially when I'm getting locked into payments for 2 years. When I put the G5 and G6 side by side I couldn't justify the price. When all the G6 batteries are at 50% of their original capacity because they have 300+ cycles on them a year from now I'll be able to slap a fresh battery in my G5 in 60 seconds. Now that I'm typing this out I'm thinking I may have kept the G6 if the battery was replaceable. That damn sealed battery is the one "feature" that keeps us all in the neverending upgrade cycle.
I hear you, G5 is a solid device. But I did the jump to G6 as I got a great deal getting a pair for $250 each. Sold my G5 so the upgrade was really cheap, under $50 after fees and paying tax on new phone.

I do have to agree with you on this. I had a Galaxy S6 Active (3500mAh) and it was great. Honestly no need to upgrade as specs are still perfectly fine today (still think the camera was AWESOME!). However I've noticed a huge drop in battery performance after 8 or so months. Battery used to last all day, but then now lasts half a day (my speculation either fast charge or wireless charging stressed out the battery). Had to carry a battery pack with me and I thought that this was annoying, this phone was suppose to have a kick @** battery. Heck no will I try to pry open the battery underneath the glass. However, current phones are very good with battery thanks to Android N and also most people upgrade within 1-2 years anyway and get the latest phone so no one really cares. I'm happy with my V20 and sad to see that it may be the very last phone to have removable batteries. I'm definitely keeping my phone for as long as I can, phones nowadays are "good enough".

It is subjective but coming from a S7 (now I have the V20), the 16MP and 12MP DOES matter, especially when taking photos of landscape and trees, the leaves on the trees and street signs are more clear VS the 12MP sensor which cannot pack enough pixels to show far away details. However, for most everyday shots, it's really perfectly fine. Plus the 16MP is too slow so the lower MP focuses faster.
