Defective S6 Edge

Purchased a new S6 Edge less than a month ago. Yesterday, the phone was just setting there not being used and it shut down and then restarted. It did this continually in rapid succession for hours while it got VERY hot! I couldn't shut it off or pull the battery. Nothing could be done with a soft restart or a hard restart. The phone was non-responsive. Contacted and returned the phone to Samsung after first going back to Best Buy where I purchased the phone. Best Buy was no help at all. This experience was very disappointing considering it's Samsung's flagship phone, what it cost, and it was less than a month old. If I had to do this all over again, I would not buy the phone. I had to reactivate a previous cell phone. No S6 for about 2 weeks. Not sure I even want to use it when it comes back.

Maybe you just got a bad device. Happens with every phone that comes out. Mine on the other hand has been flawless. Bought 2 at launch.

I've read about various issues with nav, or short battery life on various forums, but your type of issue is very rare, and I also suspect it's just a bad one off thing. The phone has been out for long enough now that if it was more widespread, you'd see some massive noise about this. Odds are a replacement will do the trick.

Glad to hear that you haven't had any problems with your phones! I hope you're right and that I won't have any other issues in the future once I get a phone back. Thanks!

An update to my prior post from 8/1/15: I received my S6 Edge phone back from Samsung repair service. It did not work and it was returned to Samsung. The phone continually restarted itself and could not be stopped. Samsung still has the phone. They sent me an email message yesterday that the phone cannot be repaired due to the unavailability of the needed part. There is no date for when it may be fixed and returned to me. I'm quite sure that this is a defective phone/lemon. I wish they had just replaced the phone with a new one that works correctly. This phone was bought on 7/7/15 and I've had it to use for just over the first two weeks. Very disappointing.
