Deleting/removing Photos

That's not what I'm seeing when I toggle on the Desktop Site option in the Chrome menu, even if I'm in Lite Mode. To review:

1. Open Chrome, and go to drive.google.com.

2. Tap the Chrome menu button at the upper right.

3. Tap the Desktop Site checkbox so that it's checked on.

4. You should now see the Google Drive page as if you were on a computer (which means the text will be pretty small). If necessary, pinch to zoom so you can see and tap things more easily.

5. In the left column, under Storage, tap the "x.x GB of xx GB used" line.

6. Now what do you see?

Finally you got me to see the light. I didn't follow your precise instructions. I now have a few questions.
Since I assume that all those files are listed as being in google drive, my conclusion is that Keep, and Docs files are part of the storage totals. Previously, you mentioned that the duplicate photos in DRIVE are not included in the total, but the photos and images are listed as files in the Drive. If the photos and images are duplicate, is there a danger in removing them. Thanks again for your patience.

To empty Trash, you also have to use the web interface for Drive in Desktop Mode (not the app). Tap the Trash option in the left column, then tap the downward arrow right next to the main Trash title you see over all of the files. You should see an Empty Trash option appear.

Unfortunately, I don't have a COMPUTER to do that so I'll have to do it the hard way. Thanks again.

You're correct -- I had mentioned before that Keep is part of Drive. And Google Docs is one of the core components of Google Drive (along with Sheets and Slides).

If a photo is listed as taking up 0 Kb, then it was saved to your Google Photos as part of your unlimited photo backup that Pixel owners enjoy, and is not taking up any Drive space. But if an individual photo is shown as taking up some space, then it could be a photo you uploaded to Google DRIVE directly (and is therefore not in your Google Photos library). Or it could be a photo you backed up to Google Photos that was NOT taken by your Pixel camera app -- in this case, if you backed up the photo in ORIGINAL QUALITY, it does take up Drive space. Backing up photos in High Quality never takes up Drive space.

I have finally decided that it is not worth the effort to remove all those files manually. My wife has my old laptop but it is difficult, if not impossible, to set up a Google drive so that I can perform what I want to do.
