I wish LG didn't do such a sloppy job on the sources for the Slider.. but if we all got this far with the OV why can't we do the same with this device? We need a motivated genius who has and loves this device

Yeah.

I'm kinda hoping an OV dev will pick up this phone and be like, "hey... this phone has a lot of potential."

But it's probably going to take a while.

I have plenty of time but I know almost nothing about developing. ;-;

I honestly believe this device has more potential than the OV, I've use both devices every day since I got my Slider so I had more than enough time to compare the two. If the Slider had more support and a fast growing dev comunity, if it had more options for roms that aren't based on stock, it could be one of the best Virgin Mobile phones.

I agree.

What ticks me off is that I used to have an HTC Wildfire S, which was nice but had serious problems (capacitive home, etc. buttons were too close to screen, very bad memory problem, etc.) but you know what? There's a CM7 Alpha for it that works GREAT and some devs are working to port ICS to it.

They came out at the same time... but it has more choices than this phone has.

I would love to learn how to develop and I am learning. But I can only port and theme so far so... I'm not very useful lol.

EDIT: OP has been edited with a link to what I've changed so far. Do not mess with the app folder, media folder, or framework folder please.

Yeah I need to start doing that too.
But next time I'm not going to take my dad's suggestion of restoring my comp because I'll find out it's a defective power strip AFTER I've restored it.

My laptop has been completely non-funcional ever since the drivers all screwed up one day, I have no idea how that happened but hey it's Windows, stuff like that shouldn't surprise anyone anymore.

Dang that sucks.

I love my computer (it's a fast desktop that's pretty new) but I hate Windows 8 so.
I want Win7 back ;-; I'm going to install Ubuntu when I feel like messing with WiFi and stuff though.

I've tried everything in my power that I could do but it's still not booting. Any help would be appreciated, whether it be someone tinkering with it themselves or giving me advice on what to do.

Honestly I would be surprised if he didn't.

EDIT: wow I just sounded so rude... I kinda meant to say that I can understand that he has bigger priorities with his phone. It would be nice if he could work on it but it's not like he's getting paid to do this.

Progress on ICS has been great, him and the devs really made an amazing piece of work for an alpha.

I regret getting the Slider. My dad actually wanted for me to get the V as a replacement to my WFS because it was cheaper but I got the Slider instead.

But the good news is that CyanogenMod is getting ported to the Q as we speak and I'll be able to port it after it's done/somewhat done/booting.

Not trying to advertise, but this is where all CyanogenMod7 for Q updates will be.
