Devoted VZW Gnex user looking for next phone, what would you get?

I am tired of having my GN attached to the wall charging or changing the battery. I was looking forward to the Moto X, but after the reveal today I am going to decide between the MAXX and the S4. I think I am leaning towards the MAXX, but I will have to see the screen and performance in person first. I used the S4 for a week and did not have much use for TW -- not that it was bad, just nothing I needed. The screen and camera were great, and I thought the phone was smooth.

I got the nexus 4 a week ago. It's running great and t mobile's HSPA+ 42 is faster than Verizon's LTE, especially at my apartment. I'm very likely going to drop Verizon and sell my 2 Gnexuses

I would wait and see what the lg G2 is about. It should b released in a month. I may buy the HTC One in 2 weeks no more motos for me.

I have the GNex on Verizon and am pleased with it, hopefully will get the 4.3 update to fix some performance issues I've noticed with 4.2.2. My contract expires in December 2013 and right now I'm between the Moto X and Droid Maxx. Tough choice. I want to keep my unlimited data so I'll have to buy one of these phones off contract. The Maxx is $699 off contract, that is a lot of cash, I'm assuming the Moto X is going to be about $575 off contract for the 16 gb. If the Moto X has a legit 24 hour battery life I may go for it, but I'm a little skeptical that would be the case with Verizon's LTE network. But right now, those are the 2 phones I'm considering. Is $699 plus tax worth it for 48 hour battery life with the Maxx? Even if its not 2 days the 3500 mah battery will be more than enough that I'll never have to worry. Very tough choice.

Have the nexus4 but T-Mobile blows so I tether it to my VZW gnex

I figured if t mobile was no good I would try one of the MVNOs that piggy back on AT&T's network

Pretty much the same here, got the GNex on release day and have the same phone today, no real problems so never had to exchange for another one. The battery of course is terrible and that is the main thing that drives me crazy! Here are the phones I'm looking at.

First was the S4, almost used my son's update to get this phone. Reason I didn't is because of the Samsung radios, if they are not better in the S4 than the GNex then I don't want it. In the store I compared my GNex to a S4 and the GNex was getting a better signal, plus have seen others complain about the radio. So decided to wait.

The HTC One, besides the fact that it is not for sale yet I just didn't like the way it felt in the hand so a no go.

Moto X. Only comes with 16GB, would like at least 32 so also thinking no go.

So I am down to the following phones right now.

Droid Maxx. With 32 GB, and a very large battery I'm drawn to this phone! The screen and the 8x (or is it x8) chip is the only thing holding me back. Will have to wait and see some reviews and see it in person.

The GNote 3. Once again a Samsung but have heard the radios in the Note 2 are great so will have to wait and see about those and not sure I want a phone that big, but maybe.

The phone I'm really looking to see and hear more about is the LG G2. 5.2 inch screen, 32GB, fastest chip and 2 GB Ram. Rumors are it is coming to Verizon plus the news today that it will have a removable battery and SD card slot. Those two are not deal breakers for me but a nice bonus. So right now this is the phone for me, will know more in a couple days.

I dont see anything appealing about the Razr Maxx aside from its battery. It's bulky, moto blurred out, screen woes, nothing seems good about it...

Am I the only one who seems excited for the efficiency improvements of the Moto X? They have focused on making it super efficient and added two dedicated processors to handle the voice and automated tasks.

I believe it will last a full 24 hours, but honestly, this becomes irrelevant w/ a phone that allows you to swap the battery: S4.

I could be wrong, but I believe the screen on the DROID Maxx is the same as the one on the Moto X. Also, the Android 4.2.2 implementation is identical. Almost stock, with the added Motorola features and widgets.

No way. I saw the stock launcher on the Razr Maxx and it looked like blur's ugly gradient was used.

The screen on the Moto X is an AMOLED, Maxx uses Super AMOLED. I have no idea what that means...

Moto X:
1280 x 720 at 316 pixels per inch; 4.7-inch active-matrix organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED).

Razr Maxx:
540 x 960 pixels at 256 ppi, 4.3" Super AMOLED

The new MAXX, not the razor maxx, uses the same RGB tech screen that the Moto X does. It will be slightly lower res because it is slightly bigger, but I doubt it will be perceptible.

So if you are looking for a new phone, the MAXX is different from the Moto X in that the MAXX has

32 GB
5" screen
3500 mah battery (rated for 48 hours)
Wireless charging

With the Moto X you get the ability to customize (eventually) and a nicer form factor.

Otherwise, the devices are the same.

Really? Excited about the X but don't see anything appealing about the Maxx. You do know they have the same chip, software, features, screen type and resolution. The really only difference is the looks and the fact that the Maxx has double the storage, bigger battery, larger screen, and wireless charging.

I got the Galaxy Nexus on launch day. I purchased an extended battery a few months go, but the battery life it still pretty week. I'm tempted to wait until my wife's phone is up in April, 2014. I would have to hold on to my phone, but Verizon's phone launches is annoying. However, their network is awesome. I could buy a new phone off contract to keep unlimited data. I don't use a ton of data, but it would still be more expensive to change plans.

My mistake, I thought you were referring to the new DROID Maxx, not the old RAZR Maxx. The DROID Maxx is a 5 inch 720p screen with the same lightly skinned Jellybean.

Well I was also mistaken. When I researched, I looked up Razr Maxx instead of Droid Maxx. This is a whole separate rant, but @ the handset makers, WTF is up with your naming conventions?!!?!?!

Make it a little bit more confusing please....

After looking closer, it looks like the Droid Ultra and Maxx are indeed nice and have all the same features the X does. Form factor is the big difference. One thing I like about the maxx... wireless charging.

But it's clumsy/bulky. No me gusta.

Would need to hold both in my hand. While the Maxx is a little wider at 137.5m and the X at 129.3 the X is thicker hitting 10.4m compared to the Maxx at 8.5m. All in all I think you get more with the Maxx that the larger frame would be worth it. But I'm still leaning towards the LG G2.
