Nexus 5 FTW
I got the GNex the day it came out and will easily make it last until the Nexus 5 is a possible choice. There may be something else worth considering out at that time, but it has to be in the mix.
Ah, you're right. Does the maxx have as steep of an incline as the X does? Looks like the X gets much thinner towards the bottom.Would need to hold both in my hand. While the Maxx is a little wider at 137.5m and the X at 129.3 the X is thicker hitting 10.4m compared to the Maxx at 8.5m. All in all I think you get more with the Maxx that the larger frame would be worth it. But I'm still leaning towards the LG G2.
They mentioned they chose AMOLED so they could utilize Active Display. They said on AMOLED allows them to power on only certain parts of the screen.Shouldn't be long before those Active Display features are ripped from the ROM and available for download. It looks like a great feature to save battery even without those companion cores.
Ugh, you're probably right. Before the GNex, I never thought about leaving big red... but after my wonderful experience w/ this phone (and most importantly, the dev support), I am considering switching to have a better user experience. What makes everyone think that the nexus 5 will be on Verizon? I've seen a lot of justifiably sarcastic comments but others that seem optimistic.
I'm a VZW GNex user too, so I hope its true. I just wondering if there is some rumor I missed.

My guess is that if the Nexus 5 is on Verizon, it will be like the new Nexus 7 with LTE. That means that it would ONLY support VZW's LTE, but have no CDMA 3G coverage. They can do that because the LTE spectrum has to be open to unlocked devices. So for me, that wouldn't work because I go a lot of places that have 3G coverage and I would have no coverage in that case. It would be like using Sprint!![]()
LG G2 > S4? What about dimensions?
If considering the S4, one should consider the G2 as well I suppose. But I'm not sure about the size of it... 5.2" screen, holy shat.
I'm in the same boat - looking at the Galaxy S3 or S4, but I can't afford it unsubsidized, so I'm going to be losing my unlimited data (which might not be a bad thing - after analyzing my usage, I've not gone over 1 gig usage in 6 months of use).
I know it's my decision as well as the OP, but I want to make myself feel better about losing unlimited data - would getting the latest be worth losing that, especially if you had access to wifi almost anywhere?

If I had to do it today I'd get the Google Play S4, the Nexus4 would be a step down from the GN and the Google Play HTC One lacks a removable battery. The one thing I really don't like about the Google Play S4 is the 16G of memory, the carrier S4s come with 32G. I have 16G on my 2012 Nexus 7 and it's a problem. My contract ends in December so I won't be making any decisions until then. I'm hoping for a better alternative by December, perhaps a Nexus 5, perhaps they will offer a 32G Google Play S4. The other possibility is to just get a carrier G4 and root it. I'm almost certainly moving to AT&T. The binary drivers on the Verizon GN have been a problem.
