Did anyone else return their S9 to keep the S8?

I upgraded from an S7 and could tell from pics and specs the upgrade would be worth it. For most people with an S8, if you read the specs and don't feel it's a big difference why buy the phone expecting the specs to magically change? At the end of the day you do what you want, just try to find info that is factual and not opinion based and decisions can be easier.

I have an s8 and want the bigger battery in the +. so with the upgrade to s9+ would also give me more RAM, dual cameras, stereo speakers, better FPS placement for taller device and newer 845.

all worth it over s8 but bc I'm going to the + as well. I'll also be holding out for better deals. BF for s8 was near $400 off with no trade in. Longer I hold the s8, the better chance I get a trade in that actually makes me some money back as well(ie s7 getting $300 trade in on s8 recently when most early adopters would be almost paid off).

those are my 2c

I'm so happy I never use an upgrapde though my carrier. I don't have to worry about being told how and when I can upgrade MY phone

Same here, it might seem expensive to buy a SIM free phone but for the amount of time I use the phone it pays for itself. SIM only contracts tend to be cheaper as well.

If the s8 is a great phone then all anyone should ask for is incremental improvements with a refresh every couple of years. I am a Pixel user and am not expecting much from the P3 as far as revolutionary sweeping changes. Conitinue to improve what is great about the phone :)

I'm with this. Although I will say, this should technically be a tick year for the Pixel so it might be some pretty big changes,. I'm hoping they add wireless charging. The S10 is the Samsung tick so it'll likely have many more changes.

I agreed that the S9 is akin to Apple's upgrades from a 6 to a 6S, etc. But still it's way better than S8, for sure!

If you looking for a completely new experience from the s8 line your going to be disappointed. If your looking for a improved device and more refined then it's worth the upgrade. Or if your like me and has to upgrade to everything. Lol.

Just the refinement of the edges alone makes me happy. I did not like the edges on my S8+. It's a subtle change but one I appreciate. I also appreciate the stereo speakers and dual cameras since I decided to skip that feature on the Note 8.

I had a pink stain on my S8+ that requires me to run it on Adaptive mode to mitigate it. So I appreciate the flawless appearance of my S9+. And the S9+ is free of the lag and stuttering animations that started to plague my S8+ almost immediately.

The camera performance is amazing and rivals that of my Pixel 2 on many occasions and sometimes beats it.

I hope to keep this phone for 2 years. I traded in an S7 Edge to get it in the price range I wanted to pay. I didn't go through my carrier upgrade program so I will be keeping my S8+, too. I'm using it in VR for now.

I'm a heavy app user and a couple online reviewers I follow have mentioned that the Note 8, after a few months of use, did not slow down like previous phones, including the S8/+. They said it boiled down to the 6GB of RAM (as opposed to 4.) This possibility of having a Samsung phone that did not slow down over it's useful life is what clinched the upgrade for me from my beloved S7 edge. That and I got a good deal

Right now Verizon and T-Mobile both are selling the S9 for 1/2 price if you're on a contract. Personally I pay full price for my phones but I've been doing that since the iphone 4s. Sell it and pay the difference. I sold my S8 for $500 so all I have to do is pay the difference.

The 9+ was a worthy upgrade for me, but if much better speakers, faster performance and better camera are not high value for a user- no point IMO to upgrade.

Once I set myself up, there's no turning back even if I think it isn't worth it. All about having the latest.

I sold my S8 & S8+ long time ago and the phone I gave up for my S9+ was the LG V30. Nothing wrong, no complaints with any of them and frankly don't even see any difference nor any advantages except for the color, Lilac Purple. LOL

I had an S8+ and went to a S9+ and I'm very happy with the upgrade. That extra 2GB of RAM is very noticeable to me as far as how smooth and quickly apps are. This phone is a beast! I was happy with my S8+ too but I like to upgrade every year. I'll probably grab an S10+ when it comes out too. I hear ya though. I almost just kept my S8+ but I'm really happy I upgraded. This phone is awesome! The Android OS just keeps getting better, same with Samsung Experience.
