Did you jumpship yet?

Odd.... It never really feels slippery to me....slicker obviously compared to when its cased but not that bad to me.

probably because I tend to have greasy fingers and the grease kind of adds friction on the glass phone but not so much on the metal one? I don't know.. I remember when I first unboxed it, it almost slipped out of my hand. And I loved my extended battery because it had a bit of a matte finish and I was abel to grip it a little more.

I just don't get the industry trend towards waterproof design

I work construction and I'm happy about water resistant phones. Would I like to be able to swap the battery, sure. For me the water resistance is more important in my line of work

Switch to What? Unfortunately for me I have to use Verizon, we live in N.C. mountains, so there is not anything we like by them.
V20 for at least another year, maybe more.
Until ar or vr become very main stream, no reason to change.
Not a gamer and the V20 is perfect for what my wife and I do on our V20s

How bad is AT&T up there? I'm taking a vacation in the area to see the eclipse but I keep hearing no AT&T despite what their coverage map shows.

I dropped the V20 twice in water. No problems.

Well, I'll put it like this.
Ashville might be all right, but thats it
Where we are, Brevard, Verizon is the only one with an oulet.
All the prepaid run on Verizon towers

To where? The V20 meets all my needs and expectations in a phone with nothing comparable on the horizon. The V30 isn't an option since it won't have any of the features that made LG a contender to begin with.

I'll be somewhere between Almond and Stecoah. That looks to be a bit west of where you are.

I'm kind of hoping my kid's phones don't work all that well. :)

Exactly. These ratings that manufacturers give out are for fresh water.

Also, manufacturers will not cover water damage. So, why should we sacrifice swappable batteries for water resistance?

The Galaxy S7 Active had a factory defect and failed water tests. There's always a chance of failure as well. A water-proof bag is more reliable and protective against other things such as dirt/sand.

The Galaxy Active series is probably best. Very rugged and water-resistant. However, you will have to unlock it if you're not on AT&T.

I hear that the G6 has decent sound for a water resistant phone.

I've never heard a decent sounding speaker from a water-proofed phone. Sounds horrible, I just had to live with it when I had my Galaxy. I'll have to check out the speaker on the G6, maybe they did something different. Either way, I would keep it away from swimming pools, you don't know those chemicals can eat away the rubber seal.

There were reviews that specifically mentioned decent quality from the speaker when compared to other water resistant phones. Doesn't mean its great compared non water resistant phones but not all of those are.

I just want a phone with a camera that doesn't hang constantly. Switching from front to rear often takes 10+ seconds, launching the camera takes forever, switching to wide angle takes a long time. Even through factory resets. It was the same on the V10. I love the picture quality, and the removable battery is a huge issue for me, but I don't know if I can go another year like this. I hate Samsung, but I'm going to look really hard at the Note 8. If it or the V30 has that stupid 2:1 aspect ratio, though, they're dead to me.

There were reviews that had it next to the v20 when it came to speaker quality and sound. So... Yeah

I agree with you on the camera, it's not the best. But everything else about the V20 makes up for it. I still personally think the V20 takes better pictures than the Galaxy S7. There are workarounds to speed things up though.
