Did you switch from a Note 4/5 to 6p? What are your thoughts?

I have a Note 4. Currently test driving the Note 5 and recently purchased a 6p. Been comparing the Note 5 and 6p. My thoughts mirror others in this thread.

  • The screen on the Note 5 is beautiful. It's vibrant and bright. 6p is good but there is no comparison.
  • USB C charging is great on the 6p but I would rather have the wireless charging on the Note 5.
  • Fingerprint scanner on the 6p is amazing. Note 5 is good, especially coming from the Note 4 but the 6p takes the cake.
  • Why isn't displaying battery percentage in the status bar standard in Android yet? I know about the System UI tuner but it's not the same. It displays when charging but I wish an option was there to enable it all the time.
  • Speakers on the 6p are great.
  • Both phones run buttery smooth.
  • The lack of cases for the 6p is concerning, hopefully this will get better.
  • Note 5 has the better camera but the 6p is good enough.
  • Ambient display on the 6p is nice but I wish I could activate by waving over the display like Motorola phones.
  • S pen is great but I didn't miss it as much as I thought I would.
I'm going with the 6p. I'm tired of waiting on Android updates. Updates along with phone backups/restores are things Apple does insanely well, Google should totally copy this. I wasn't concerned with carrier bloat since most can be easily disabled. The 128 GB 6p is also cheaper than the 32 GB Note 5 when buying new.

Got my 6P tonight, coming from a Note 5. One thing I notice right away that is hard to look past is the amount of screen real estate taken by the on screen buttons. The "5.7" screen feels noticeably smaller with the impact of the on screen buttons. Screen size isn't everything but I wasn't anticipating the feeling of going down in screen size. Anyone else having a difficult time getting used to the "smaller" screen?

I guess when it really matters the screen size is the same, meaning when watching movies or playing games. But yes, doing other things when the on screen buttons are visible the screen will look smaller.

Coming from the Note 4 the only thing I miss about the physical buttons is being able to wake the phone up with the home button... Otherwise I don't miss the screen real estate taken up by the buttons.

Either way I'd much rather have the dual front facing speakers than physical buttons.

I came from my 3rd Note 4 (yes you read it correctly! Dabbled with LG in between) and spent a long weekend deciding between my new silver Nexus 6P and my nearly-new gold Note 4. Honestly, it was a difficult decision! I knew I would miss S-Pen (which I used on occasion) and wondered if I could cope without expandable storage! Anyway, Note is on eBay now (holding value well in UK due to lack of Note 5!) and I'm a very happy Nexus 6P owner! Smoother software, stereo speakers and the more powerful processor/graphics won me over. It's a great phone, and although longer than the Note 4, the length really is not an issue.

I have the Note 5 and the 6P. It's been a little bit since I've been able to enjoy stock Android but it's good to be back. I really just love everything about this phone. I (knock on wood) have had zero issues with anything. Screen, body, software works as it should.

Camera is really great on the nexus, stereo front speakers are really loud and crisp. I will miss the S-Pen a little and Samsung pay was simply freaking awesome. Note 5 will be up on Swappa and Craigslist tomorrow. Thanks Note 5, is been a nice run.

I came from a Note 4 and I'm glad I did. I the note had fingerprint scanner issues and was not reliable, it often locked up and froze. Not to mention the poor reception I got. I also had issues when I would stream music and try to use the phone for other things it was lag big time.

I had a S4,S5, and Note 4 and I must say that even though I had those issues, it was my favorite phone. I also kinda got sick of Samsung too. I'm happy with my switch and all the issues I had from the the Note are non issues now. What carrier are you on?

I'm on Verizon and have lost some features because of the 6P such as visual voicemail, roadside assistance, call blocking, and some other features. I also have connection issues with the 6P and my network extender for some odd reason.

I am on Sprint.

I spotted a guy using a graphite 6P a few days ago. I liked the way it looked and felt.

I am thinking of waiting to see what Samsung does with Marshmallow on the Note 4 before I jump ship.

After a week with my 6P I'm not missing my Note 4 at all... The only thing I was missing at first was VVM but learned I can just forward unanswered calls to Google Voice here's a thread about it: http://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?t=609654

Yeah the fingerprint scanner really sucked on the Note 4 especially with an otterbox case on on it, I gave up using it after only one day. Whereas with the Spigen case I have on the 6P, the case actually makes it easier to use the fingerprint scanner because it helps my finger find it easier. I love the fingerprint scanner on the 6P, you really have to experience it to see how good it really is.

I can't even express how much smoother the 6P runs compared to the Note 4... I almost felt bad giving the Note 4 to my son, at least it was kind of an upgrade for him going from the Note 3 to the 4.

I would imagine going from a Note 4 to a Nexus 6P would seem like an upgrade in smoothness. Going from the Note 4 to the Note 5 has been a night and day difference that way. Congrats on your new Nexus!

Note in my house!!!
