Direct Connect Issues

Anyone having direct connect issues when you go out of 3g signal? I go in and out of a cooler several times a day and when I do I lose direct connect and have to turn phone off and back on to regain direct connect access. Usually says something about "Wait for direct connect call setup to complete" but never takes place.

My rep said something about Jan 17th being the date they "flip the switch" to allow direct connect to work outside the 3g network or roaming. Not quite sure what she meant or if that will fix my problem.

Other than that, I love the 3g speeds, apps that work because of gingerbread and what seems to be a speedier interface. Always felt the I1 and Titanium were sluggish.
 
YES, I have the same issues, apparently Sprint is having issues with this new Direct Connect compared to the old Nextel.

Sprint direct connect works over the data lines, where as nextel was all radio. Nextel will be phased out by 2013 I believe.

they told me, that if you have issues you need to update your profile. I find myself updating a few times through the day until the software fix is done.

Settings - about phone - system updates - update profile.

Also, if you have problems with service inside a building, call complain, and they will more than likely send you a free airave 2, which works great for boosting signal inside, but using the airave means updating your profile even more often, only until the software fix though.
