disappointed in battery life [Samsung Galaxy S7]

I went skiing two days over the weekend. I ended each ski day with about 85% remaining. Not bad for being on the top of a Colorado mountain. (Granted I put my pone on power save, but that didn't keep me from an occasional sms or data usage.) I was pleased.

Part of it is probably being on tmobile. I switched to tmobile for a couple months and my battery life decreased significantly. Once I went back to at&t, it improved.

I downloaded gsam and WiFi was taking up 30% even though my WiFi is off

It's the Android System eating up your battery like the Cookie Monster eats cookies.

As far as I know this bug is only affecting Snapdragon variants with T-Mobile. It seems to be a software bug. I'm sure it'll be fixed in an update very soon.

Got an iPhone 6, was looking to get a S7 but hearing about how poor the battery life is, I think I'll stick with the iPhone for now (as much as I would prefer a phone with an Android OS). I get consistently AT LEAST 8 hours of usage time (sometimes over 9) on a battery that is close to half the size of the one in the S7. And thats with WiFi and Bluetooth on all day. The OS sucks, it is constricting as h**l but it is also so incredibly well optimized that it makes the SAMSUNG phones battery consumption a joke. Sorry. And again, I'm all for Android!

IPhone usage time and Android screen on time are not the same. Iphone usage time is anytime the phone does anything whether the screen is in or not. Synching emails and such in the background. You could leave an iPhone sitting on a desk all day and it could have 4+ hours of usage when the screen wasn't ever on

Mine looks pretty bad also, I'm on AT&T and have barely used the phone today and I am at 63% with about 1.5 hours SoT.

I have done all sorts of the common tweaks like limit services no WiFi, disable all the bloat, heck I don't even have face book on this device.

Take a look

Day 2 and it's been what I expected from the reviews I've read. I'm also on WiFi most of the day though and I noticed some aren't.

Edit: screenshot is tiny I'm at 23% after 13 hours including lots of calls, email, Facebook, syncing photos with dropbox, editing in Lightroom, and shooting photos.

On the S6 there is a setting to turn WiFi off when the screen is off, I highly recommend it to increase battery life.

Keep in mind while a bigger battery, the screen is also a lot larger. I really hate seeing
topics like these before 99% of people have even received their phones to see for themselves.

Using a phone a couple days hardly qualifies this, let alone talk of getting rid of the phone as everyone knows battery use is usually bad at first and gets better over time.

Plus phones have a lot going on! Massive screen, bright lights, always checking emails, facebook etc! By the time you come round to making a call you have no battery left! It's not like the old days of Nokia phones where the only thing to entertain you was Snake!. My Galaxy S7 gold (UK version) is currently at 57% at 1245pm. That's 30% more than what my S6 was telling me at this time of the day. Loving it!

3 hours of Netflix over LTE this morning. At 65%. No tweaks, auto brightness. Any more doubts?

I don't have any. I've had mine for almost 48 hours and its quickly becoming my favorite phone yet. I watched 45 minutes of a movie yesterday while working out and it only used 7%. Played with the Gear VR last night for over an hour, watching videos and looking at all the pics and it only used 25% which I was thoroughly impressed with. I left it off the charger last night after that to see how it would do sitting idle all night with the "always on screen" on and it used 6% in 6 hours, I'm very happy with 1% an hour sitting idle. I've never gotten big SOT from my phones because I stream a lot of music and podcasts all day at work so the battery gets drained while its sitting there with the screen off but coming from the LG G3 this is phenomenal, most days that thing would be dead by 2 pm if I didn't plug it in and 1% an hour overnight was not possible most of the time.

I'm loving the GS7 and have no complaints with the battery life so far.

Dude the usage time on ios is the biggest lie ever. I measured my own screen on usage time for an average day use, and while it was under 2 hours of real usage with my own measures, by the end of day it shows 7 hours of usage

If my phone lasted me all day until late evening on one charge I think that's amazing!

Had mine for almost a week and it performs about what I expected for a device with such performance and pixels.
