disappointed in battery life [Samsung Galaxy S7]

So it seems the KNOX application might be a culprit of my battery drain. it doesn't show up in the "battery" section. However, when I open it up in the application catalog to try and disable it shows 5% battery drain since last charge. So i think this is masking itself as part of the "Android System" high consumption issue I am having. I can't find anywhere to uninstall this app. I googled and it said just go into the app settings and uninstall. However, its not in my app drawer and also can't be disabled like other apps. Thoughts on this? could i be on to something?

I'm not sure how much of an impact Knox has on battery life, but I have disabled it and other bloatware using Package Uninstaller Pro. I'm looking at 16 hours battery life today.

I'm thinking of another phone all together given the poor battery performance (3 1/2 hours) and hot phone. I may try a second phone but not sure if it would be any better?

Do you have a list of recommendations of what to disable? I just downloaded the app

Upon downloading the app I initially checked "disable all bloatware" from the menu. I found there were a few that were disabled I wanted to keep, so I unchecked those as well as some that appeared to be Android specific apps that I might want to keep, so I reenabled them. I had to reenter my credentials into the disabled apps after reenabling them but they worked just fine.

I suggest clicking the obvious bloatware highlighted in pink and keep any selections that you feel might put a damper on your functionality.

Same here. I had a day of HEAVY usage. Including two running (exercise) apps and youtube music running nonstop for 3 hours. Two full hours of web browsing and multiple calls throughout the day. Google maps directions for at least a full hour. I got 12 hours and had 10% left. I have PUP installed with knox disabled, not sure if this helped or not.

I'm extremely happy with the battery life so far. This morning was my first test. On my S6 I would go into the gym at 100%, and by the time I was done 2.5 to 3.0 hours later it would be down to about 39%. During my gym times, I'm using location, bluetooth, Wi-Fi constantly and the screen is on 100% of the time.

With my S7, I started out at 95% charge, and was down to 70% charge. I'd say that's a pretty big improvement.

That's REALLY good news! I'm planning on using mine at the gym in almost the same manner.

My S7 is useless. I have to have a phone with more than 3 1/2 hours of battery life and one that is not hot to the touch.
I got it today and will return it tomorrow.
Way too premature to base any conclusions on battery life after just one single day of use (I'm presuming you mean 3.5 hours SOT?). You're making a knee jerk reaction. It's your first day of use where you're setting everything up, installing loads of apps/accounts, syncing loads of stuff, probably playing with it a lot more than usual and the automatic app optimisation hasn't kicked in yet (takes 3 days).

I'd recommend keeping it for a few more days and see how you get on but whatever floats your boat. I just know that my battery experience on my 2nd day was much better than my 1st and that can be said for every phone I've ever owned.

Of course, if you don't mean 3.5 hours SOT and are taking about total use then ignore everything I said because yeah, that's definitely a faulty unit.

I took my phone off charge 6am this morning. It is now 3.15pm and it is on 45%. So much better than the S6! I didn't charge it at all yesterday until I got home. Not had that in years! And I haven't got power saving on!

My s5 could go 2 days without a charge. My s7 lost 20% while I slept, and just browsing on Chrome causes the charge to drop like a rock. The usage graph shows like an 80 degree slope. Not sure I can live with this.

Not bad, not bad at all! Again, been in very poor signal area most of the day, this evening I've used it extensively. Brightness on auto. Ran some heavy benchmarks. It looks like this has equivalent battery life to the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact that it's replacing which is quite the achievement considering that phone has a 4.6" 720p display vs 5.1" 1440p display.

You might want to figure out what's draining your battery.

Had my UK s7 since Tuesday. Coming from a galaxy S5 and not using a galaxy s6 I was unsure of what to expect. I have to say it seems to be decent. I took my phone off charge (100%)at 7am this morning and have forced myself to use the phone as I normally would on any normal day just to see how the battery faired. It's now 10.05pm(screen shots attached) I am more then happy with the results no problem going a full day what so ever and even with heavier usage I could still get a full day. On par of not better then my s5. Only on 3rd full day of usage I reckon after a week or two of consistent usage it could probably improve slightly.

Coming from an S6 to the S7 (not Edge). So far I am very pleased with the S7 battery life. It seems to be much better than my S6 battery life. And I expect it to improve even more after things settle a bit more.

After a couple of days settling in I'm very happy with how it's going so far. Off charge at 7am and still strong almost 18 hours later

I am getting over 6 hours SOT throughout a 15hr day. Pretty good if you ask me and this is only in my 3rd day since I got the phone. I came from OPX and this is a very welcome upgrade in battery department

I are been traveling a lot in poor signal areas, no screen shots to share but I am happy with the way it is performing and my last phone was the Nexus 6P, easily making it through a full day. I am using the UK Exynos version.

Samsung phones have always been known to have the worst standby time. Never buying a Samsung with all its bloatware again! BlackBerry Priv or Nexus 6P FTW. Stock Android experience. The PRIV only has a few BB apps otherwise it is like stock Android
