Discount for Note 7 owners

Not sure if this was mentioned, but I just watched a CNET video, and they said in that video that it's an INSTANT credit when you order the Note 8 on Samsung.com for previous Note 7 owners for the Up to $425 depending on the device. No waiting for the credit or refund.

Was in this video:

I'm sure they would allow so many days for you to get your current phone to them before they tacked on the $425 back to your purchase price. You still need to own the phone outright and trade it in, though. Like others have stated, if you own the S8 outright, you may be able to get that much for it selling it outright through other channels. I would think that the S7 or S7E would not be the full $425.

Is this discount for only N7s purchased from Samsung or any carrier because both my N7s were from Sprint?

Plus, what if you trade it in and then they say it wasn't fully functional and wouldn't turn on because they left it sitting too long and then charge the amount back onto the card?

I'd much rather sell or trade it in through other means and in person than do this.

This would be a deal if:
1. It applied to ALL former N7 owners regardless of going through Samsung or your carrier.

2. If what you owed on your replacement device is forgiven and you start at $0.

3. You are able to upgrade to the N8 immediately.

IMO, anything less isn't a favor from Samsung. It's just good advertising until you get an accurate understanding of the fine print and loopholes they can use to shaft u in the end.

I showed as qualified for the $425 with a Note 5 as a trade in, however, since you either have to use Samsung financing or pay the balance ought right this is not useful to me. I pre-ordered mine in blk thru AT&T this morning.

Cheers,
BR
Waiting for my N8 to Ship.... :)

I believe that the discount should've made available through our carriers, like many others. I would really prefer the comfort and convenience of dealing with T-Mobile, especially of there is a warranty issue and for insurance. If Samsung made this an option, it truly would be a favor to use N7 owners who have dealt with phones we didn't necessarily care to have given the circumstances.

The page clearly states that you have 15 days after you get your N8 for them to receive your trade in device or you owe full price.

By clicking Place Order, you are agreeing to the Terms and Conditions of the Samsung Trade-In Program.

If you do not send in your Trade-In Device within 15 days of receiving your new device or if your Trade-In Device is not in good condition or is not otherwise eligible for Trade-In, you agree to pay Samsung the full trade-in value listed above or full trade-in value listed minus $25, respectively. You authorize such charge to be made on the same payment method, and same Samsung Financing offer if applicable, used for this transaction. No device will be returned to you.

Re: Note 8 users stuck with a Galaxy S8+ should be allowed tobe upraded to note 8

Of course they had to take devices in any condition...they were defective.

Some people, justifiably so, feel they should get the same treatment Korean customers received. Why not?
They didn't have to provide full value for abused devices, yet did so anyway. They went way over the top of the minimum requirements.

It's a $50 discount if you order directly from Samsung and if you trust them to honor the trade in terms. That didn't go so well for the S8 recently. $50 isn't worth that gamble to me.

I absolutely can NOT turn in a previous phone for a discount on a new phone. I dodged TWO bullets last year because I fell back on my current Note Edge.

Those are very low expectations then.

Somebody on Facebook commented to a Samsung post about the Note 8.

Samsung replied to her comment with this.

Any update on this post by Samsung? I am in the same position the original poster is in, I am basically stuck with the s7e I chose after the recall. I even decided to stick with a samsung phone hoping it would be better for upgrading to the note8 when it was released. VZW said they could not help me unless the s7e was paid in full and after I stated samsung had a promotion they simply said I should go to samsung and buy the phone there.

They're right. The extra $50 rebate is only for buying from Samsung. That said, if you accept bill credits instead, the discount on Verizon is actually $5 more.

So $50 more is what samsung replied to this post when they said stay tuned for more tomorrow? That reply made it seem samsung was going to do something for people like the poster who have an s7e after the note7 recall and its not paid off and can't upgrade until it is.

If we have a replacement phone and it's on bill pay. They said we have to pay off our replacement phone first to get a update.. verzion sucks

No, just no. No one has ever been forced to purchase a phone. Every phone purchase is a conscious and intentional decision. It's literally impossible for Samsung to have forced anyone to buy anything.
