Do I even want to upgrade to One UI?

Night mode doesn't work with themes. I have no idea what the full gesture is about

Gestures without home>back>recent buttons just swipe from where they use to be. You should get familiar with the new One UI on YouTube to understand it more. Might work out better then you think .

It's less about what you see, more under the hood. Battery improvement is something you should see.

Can it be said that if one is using "hide nav bar" on oreo then the new gestures in pie work in the same manner as getting the nav bar to reappear in oreo?
It essentially just eliminates the need to tap on the corresponding button. I'm trying to make sure I understand this new functionality once it drops for big red. Thanks

I can explain no problem
You will have 3 little squares on the bottom you will swipe up instead of touch , now if you dont want to see those little squares you can hide the help gestures and you'll just need to remember that it's in the same place to swipe on the bottom and looks cleaner

I will leave it as is for now. Themes need to be updated apparently, but my current one still doesn't cover the email app, which is stuck in painfully bright white. The night mode is going to be pretty much useless until they hopefully find a fix.

The only problem with under the hood improvements is that they aren't always that noticeable and can be overshadowed by bad design ideas.

Another option is to put it back to the stock theme and turn dark mode on. There are already plenty of themes that are OneUI compatible you just have to find a new theme.

So if I put it back to stock, enable dark mode, and then use a theme it will stay on?

I ended up getting a new theme that had been updated. Email still isn't working though. It's unfortunate because the Marvel themes that I liked are either gone from the store or not yet updated
