Do I even want to upgrade to One UI?

Double tap on recents takes me back to last app. In both Pie beta S9+

Tap and hold recents is nice too.
Both still exists. Better more refined on Pie.

Now if final post beta is different then that's unlikely and another story.
Only if you have nav bar buttons mode enabled. Not if you have gesture nav bar enabled. In which case you have the option above instead.

Here is where you choose which mode...

Ok, so now I've practised using the nav bar gestures with the 'guides' in place for a day so, feeling a bit of a pro (!), I have now removed the guides. Absolutely fantastic. Such a small change but now you have 100% screen real estate. Honestly, it's my favourite feature of Pie/One UI. So intuitive and makes the experience so fluid l and immersive. Exactly what Samsung promised.

I believe you can take a screenshot of the lock screen using adb, but I haven't done it that way in a long time.

Took this photo on a very old phone. Sorry for the quality, but hopefully you'll get the idea.

I have seen a few screen shots of Android 9 and the one thing I don't like is the placement of the time. Now its on the left hand side and they removed the am/pm indicator. Why?? Why would they do that? I know its a small petty thing but that bothers me, it's my inner OCD.

Yeah I'm diggin the gestures too. Paired with OneHandOperation+ it makes for a great experience.

One thing I found is that you don't have to swipe up for the home button you can just press in the area where it normally sits.

Also, by turning off the guide indicators you do lose the swipe right to quick switch apps.

You can change that back to the original way. That's just an added style to the lock screen clocks.

Thank you!!
I've figured out the recent/ last app issue. The new way is you swipe right and hold from the very bottom of the centre of the screen (ie from the very bottom of the home gesture area). It gives you a fast way to select the most recent (or any other open) app. Pretty cool but again, will take a bit of getting used to.

I noticed that, too about swipe right not being available. That's the only downside. Don't know why they've done that.

I've been using it for a few days. I've not encountered any issues with it. Only thing is I think my keyboard (gboard) has been resized slightly and I can't type well...thats my excuse anyway.

It's not just you, my Gboard got resized too. I went back into Gboard settings to change it, but the keys still aren't in the right place and it's now a pain in the *** to type with because I keep pressing the wrong keys.

I don't really like it. I hate the swipe gesture navigation bar, but it's the only option unless I want to have the nav bar on all the time (which I don't because I like getting the most out of my S9+'s big screen). There used to be an option where I could use the button press nav bar but have it disappear off screen whenever I wasn't using it in apps so I got more of a full screen experience, but they took that away, so THANKS SAMSUNG/ANDROID. Also I'm not a fan of the way my messenges app looks now, and I hate that I can't see message previews on the lock screen. They also took out the power optimization setting from the edge screen, so now I have to go into the settings menu to run the optimizer to save battery life. Not a whole lot else has changed, but I hate that the things they did change were made worse (at least for my preferred experience).

I've reverted back to the full navigation bar instead of the swipe functions. the back swipe was so annoying. sometimes i had to swipe 4 times just to get it to go back. AOD isn't as good as i can't invert the colours anymore, I liked that. i also used the rectangle screen shot function from the edge screen to change my AOD pic. that's gone too now. but the dark mode makes up for a lot of it. really like that.

Glad its not just me! The change seems so small I can't really tell by looking at it...but typing...well thats not going too well.

If you change to geature nav bar without guides, it improves Gboard size/ location.

I still have the rectangle screenshot from the edge panel. Maybe yours got disabled during the upgrade?

Also, give One Hand Operation+ a try from the Galaxy App store. It adds swipe functions from the sides of the screen. I use that mostly for the back function.

I also think I would like to wait a bit. However not sure how to stop the 9 upgrade. Yes I am sure I can keep hitting the not now, I guess within the notification and none of the apps update via auto. If there is another way please sound off.
Thanks

Turn off automatic updates so it never downloads... but if it's already downloaded, it will eventually update on its own.

True all auto updates are off however not sure it stops system or security updates. I have Google and samsung apps turned off and on wifi only which I hardley use. But heres hoping
