I've read several times that I should replace my S7 because it won't get any more updates, inducing security updates. What are the real drawbacks for keeping it as long as it functions well (which mine does)? I don't keep much on my phone, regularly deleting photos that I've moved to my computer or just have no interest in. I delete text threads after the thread's purpose has ended. I do have a contact list, with people's names, phone numbers, and email addresses.

As long as you don't keep banking apps or important information I think you'll be fine

Statistically speaking you will probably be fine but there is increased risk when you don't have the latest security patches.

I wouldn't do mobile banking on it but otherwise wouldn't worry much.

I do have a banking app on the phone, password protected of course. Is that a danger?
If phone not getting monthly security updates, I find that a concern, nothing might happen but I feel unease.
