Do you still recommend the Pixel 2?

I'd be leery of taking a battery hit with the 8.1 update. Other than that crapshoot it's an awesome phone.

The charging cord that came with my 2 XL is one meter in length. I bought this USB-C cable 2 pack which has a 1 meter and a 2 meter cord. I use the 2 meter cord for charging in the house and the 1 meter cord I use with my vehicle charger.

Nice heavy duty quality.

You can use the patch cord/adapter thingy that came with the phone and the Pixel 2 file transfer utility or you could download the ringtone folder and the notification folder to a PC and then copy the files to your Pixel 2 ringtone and notification folders.

Blue Mail should be able to do this. I've got it and keep getting pleasantly surprised by what it can do. I know it shows numbers of new emails in the banner. Not sure about the displaying of full images though. Blue Mail has a nice user interface and loads of options.
PowrDroid thanks for replying.

1. I just ordered the cables you linked to that will get me started.

I like to have a charging cable by my bed and also by my recliner downstairs. So guess that means another power 18W power adapter. Do you recommend any adapters or is it better to just stick with the one from Google that comes with a cable?

2. On transferring music & ringtones for some reason the Pixel 2 file transfer utility isn’t finding what’s on my Droid. I can do via a pc but I’ll need to order a cable for that.

I did successfully transfer my ringtones via Bluetooth to the Pixel 2 but instead of going in my Ringtones folder it went in my Bluetooth folder. I’m using Solid Explorer File Manager app but can’t figure out a way to move the files.

3. I just installed Blue Mail so I’ll see how I get along.

I also use Solid Explorer (good choice!). Long-press the file you want to copy, tap the icon in the top right that looks like 2 pages stacked (or the scissors for cut), the icon in the bottom right corner should change to orange with a clipboard on it. Navigate to the new location and tap the orange icon to paste the file.

Aha so simple but I would have never figured it out... thanks!

Now what I’m trying to figure out is how do you assign different notification sounds to email, texts, Facebook, etc.?

Maybe someone can answer this. I bought my Pixel 2 off Swappa from this ad:
Google Pixel 2 - Verizon Edition (Verizon) Black, 64 GB, in New (Resale) condition for $525
LRH319: Google pixel 2, brand new, unlocked

Maybe not logical thinking but just figured I would have full warranty coverage but now not so sure.

How would Google handle this if I had an issue with the phone? If covered how long is it?

Best answer is to contact Google

Perhaps I am Phone-Fickle. Over the past two months (thanks to my status with Verizon), I have used a Samsung Galaxy S8+, Samsung Note 8 and, presently a Google Pixel 2 XL.

My thirst for the Note 8 (I was a Note 7 guy before they began exploding) was unquenchable. However, I found the Note 8 just too bulky for my hand.

The Pixel 2 XL arrived at my office three days ago. It is a bit wide for my liking but otherwise fine. One disappointment (should have done more homework) is the inability to change the font. I am not a guy to "root."

I knew about the no wireless charging going in. I do miss it.

About one year ago, I went for a V20. Liked it - - until I I discovered there was no notification LED. Yes, I know it can flash and there are ancillary notification programs available for download, etc. - - but I like that bloody LED and am a loyal Light Flow customer.

Last, the no-SD card is disappointing. I opted for the 128-version accordingly. A tad concerned since I make heavy use of Boldbeast Recorder and liked having the recordings store on the SD card.

Cool. Guess it's going to be a long weekend, huh? Lol

I have the nasty habit of ordering things on Friday, then sulking because it takes so long to get them.

You would think I would be smart enough to make those decisions at the other end of the week.

How is the new phone so far?

How is the new phone so far?

Keeping in mind that I have only had it since Thursday, I am absolutely delighted.

I really liked my Moto G3, but switched to an iPhone SE in March of 2016.

Lately, I had been using my Moto for just about everything but phone calls, as it has no SIM. I liked it so much better that I decided to update to a Pixel 2. The Moto is running Android M.

The pixel is just a bit narrower, and is faster, smoother, more secure, and has a nicer screen. Also, the fingerprint sensor is superb, and virtually instantaneous.

I think the integration of hardware and software in the Pixel rivals that of Apple products, if it doesn't surpass it. If you buy a different Android phone, or buy from a carrier, you are on your own.

Again, I am delighted, and do not plan on going back to Apple. They will do just fine without me.

I hope this helps.

I have had the XL since Christmas, love, love LOVE it. Other than being just a bit big for me. Today I traded it in for the P2 and totally love it

Good luck
Rick

I do not have the Pixel 2; however it is one of my favourite phones of 2017 and I'm finally getting to the point that I'm going to (eventually) purchase one.

I feel like there has been a lot of discussion about bezels and the Pixel 2 looking "dated" because of them. Personally, I feel like that is a very subjective statement - what looks dated or uninteresting to one person may look great and unique to another - and so everyone's tastes will be different.

I've watched many Pixel 2 reviews, and most reviewers, from what I can recall, do talk about the bezels and how they look dated. I don't really understand how they look dated - having bezels is just something that some phones have more of than others. Some extra bezel doesn't mean a phone looks dated or "bad" - it just looks different. :)

Personally, I dislike a phone with super slim bezels. I'm always afraid I will drop it, or pick it up the wrong way. I like the bezel as I can hold onto the phone's better; and I personally just like how bezels look. I really like the look of the Pixel 2 - it's beautiful! I would not regret my purchase if it were me.

Look at this picture I found online. I'm drooling!

Trust me, once you have the P2 in your hands the bezels aren't even a thing. I'd even say they look nice! I appreciate the symmetry and love the look of the speaker grills in them.

Hmm, that could be one of the many reasons I love bezels. I'm into symmetry and matching... Thank you for pointing that out to me! I too like the speaker grills! What colour Pixel 2 do you have?

Great review. Thank you so much for sharing - and I'm so glad you are loving your Pixel 2!

Clearly White... So pretty!

Bezelgate is a load of bull in my eyes, look at the iPhone 8!!!

Granted it has the fps on the front but it still has bezels and is still one of the biggest selling phones around. Get over it people.
