Do you think HTC will actually fix the 30 fps issue?

Only drawback is battery life is now less by an average of 3-4 hours on full charge, so I understand why HTC did the cap, it is more of a battery issue.

Damn! Really?? Would pushing more fps thru the UI really eat up that much more power? Maybe thats why they are "researching" the issue.. trying to find a way to uncap it without it eating up that much of the battery at the same time.

I would do some more testing with the battery, cause every other phone does not have this limit and get regular battery life.

Please show us evidence of your unlocked fps Evo running higher than 30 fps in a 3D benchmark test. I can OC mine to 1267, run my Gumbo hack on the RAM, and install a Froyo build to get a Linpack of over 40. Still can't get 30 fps in Neocore. And Neocore is designed specifically for Qualcomm chips. Scores on nenamark are still pitiful.

Because the GPU is not capable. It's not on the Dinc, or the Desire, or the Nexus One either. The Evo just was not designed to be a 3D powerhouse, and likely no HTC phone ever will be.

Does it piss me off that HTC took it upon themselves to decide between HD out and framerate? Yeah, a little. It used to irk the hell out of me. But after undoing their work, and seeing the result, it's a non-issue that people are going to cling to because they feel cheated.

BUT -- all hope isn't lost. It looks like the Snapdragon/Adreno GPU clock speed can be almost doubled, which WILL improve performance (See Acer Liquid)

Nice job on that linpack score I can get that completely stock with CM6. 44 MFLOPS was my highest stock. You proved a big point, dude!

No, it does not affect battery that much.

If you run Hero Over's Baked Snack Rom, it has the fps fix and battery life is like freaking double.

I really hope they fix it. I put my Evo next to an Aria today and noticed that the UI on his phone seemed so much smoother. Kinda hurt my feelings actually.
