At least not Smart Phone wise.... I have two Samsung LED TV's and a Samsung LCD.... They make a great display... I went through 3 Samsung Blu-Ray players before finally getting a Panasonic which was WAY higher rated.. I thought the Samsung Instinct was junk and so far I think the Galaxy line of phones feel way too light and cheap in the hand...

Gps is fine. The cap buttons are OK, all caps are never going to be as good as hard buttons.

The only real problem with the epic is some sort of 3g/battery life bug, but that will probably get fixed along with he froyo update.

I would say the contrary. I think that physical buttons are more problematic. I would definitely prefer capacitive buttons over physical ones. The EVO is just better built and an all around better phone.

I have both phones. I actually think the EVO screen is nicer. The EVO screen is much clearer and doesn't have this bug screen effect the Epic has. Maybe people see the ugly bright color scheme the Epic comes with and confuse it with being a brighter, nicer screen. The other thing I don't like about the Epic is the cap buttons don't stay lit... They also reversed the home key and the menu key.

My Epic had horrible battery life until I hard reset it. Now it seems pretty good. I go back and forth between the two. The Epic seems to lag sometimes but it also might just be not registering screen or cap buttons touches as well as the Evo does.

The reason I use the Epic a bit more know is because it has a physical keyboard. I write lengthy e-mails for work and it does become a bit cumbersome with an on screen keyboard.

Nicer phone - Evo
More practical for me - Epic

i played with tmobiles version of the galaxy and like you guys were saying the screen does seem to have more color but the thing sorta felt like a chinese knockoff phone it was far too light to feel sturdy and my cousin was trying to show me a youtube video on his galaxy and i couldnt make out anything so i searched the exact video on the evo and it was night and day difference on low quality as well. i love the evo and everyone i show it too likes it alot as well. also i love htc sense i know some hate it but i wasnt too big on touchwiz at all!!

I played with a customers fascinate today and I had the exact same thoughts... compared to my evo it felt like I was about to break it just holding it.

samsung only produces good gsm phones since the blue display phone on t-mobile. after that samsung cdma still sucks. a840,a900,a920, m550, m500, m640, moment, ace, ip800, instinct

i am eyeballing that tablet, however... its for my mom and only cell phone i told her shes allowed to have is palm 755 and blackberry tour since they work well

The display is beautiful, but

I had the Captivate for 27 days. What a gorgeous display. However, looks ain't everything. I kept trying to like that phone because I waited since March to get my hands on one. I have to say, I'm biased towards HTC and the fact that Samsung released that phone without a working gps pissed me off. If you turn off the setting that looks at the cell towers and only use gps for location, gps will fail. I tried all the tricks that this forum and xda suggested and kept reading Samsung press releases saying they will have a fix in late Sept. That was well past my 30 day eval so back it went. I went and got the EVO and literally in 2 days, we were bonded. I love this phone.

And I love the unlimited data plan. With at&t, I had to monitor my usage to make sure I didn't run out before the end of the month. 2GB is miserly.

that, lol

i've never owned a samsung device but from the countless forum posts/complaints and watching friends go through hell with it, i'm avoiding samsung.
my wife wants the epic. i'm considering getting it for her but at the same time, i'm thinking about the future and avoiding her complaining when her gps wont sync and capacitive buttons stop working

Hubby has the Epic and he hasn't had any problems with the GPS or capacitive buttons. Phone has been pretty flawless. His screen is a lot nicer than my evo too. It does make the evo look washed out... so I avoid playing with his phone.
