Did you install TWRP or is it still stock recovery?

It's TWP recovery.

Yay! It's rooted now.

I'll wait till it's a more stable build. It's only in alpha for Lollipop 5.1.1. I am following the thread on XDA. It looks straightforward though. I don't think I'll have problems.

I think I'll be good to go. I already flashed a custom recovery from xda since the twp recovery wasn't working. I've also installed Titanium Backup from Google Play.
