Does anyone regret not getting a Nexus?

OK I do use a bunch of widgets, but not really ones that need constant updating. People, news, sportstap, clock w/weather....

The ones that do need updating are set to like every 3 hours or so to help with the battery.

I get the customization part, but there has to be more....gnex people are rabid about "vanilla"

Vampires are "rabid" for blood. Doesn't mean that you have to be.

P.S. I had a much better analogy but felt that some people wouldn't see the humor. It was about pedophiles. Don't judge me.

You know what? I guess I am the weird one, almost the only one, that could care less about "vanilla" android.

I get the speed boost, though it is negligible and will diminish more as processors get faster, of not having a layer on top of vanilla (Sense). I get that there will always be "purists" in the world (ie DH in baseball), all this I get.
It seems to me that many times those skins and add ons consume resources and at least for me, that is not a good thing. I'd prefer to have more choice in what is consuming a valuable thing like resources on my phone.
If you break it down though, it all is just a layer over functionality. Be it vanilla or sense it is just a GUI, as long as all the functionality is there who cares?
I don't think you are wrong for looking at it like that. But, always keep in mind that "functionality" has a price associated with it too.
Am I missing something here? I have played with a GNEX a lot and do not get it.

I don't think you are missing anything per-say. But, for your needs, the Rezound is what you prefer.

I have to admit I am liking my Rezound big time even with it still being on Gingerbread.

The build quality is outstanding and the screen is elite class - it out "retinas" the "retina" display and has truly superb color levels and saturation. The CPU is nice and fast and so far battery has not been an issue. As a phone also it is outstanding. So in physical terms I don't think it has an equal out there just now - the closest would be the RAZR Maxx but the screen on that is inferior.

Software wise the phone is excellent. Sense is to me a genuine improvement on Android and the very small price it exacts in CPU resources it more than pays back in the high quality widgets, best of breed email implementation (with genuine ActiveSync baked in) and smooth transitions (I've experienced choppiness even with ICS vanilla on a GNex and zero choppiness on the Rezound so far).

I'm looking forward to seeing how it works when the Rezound goes to ICS soon. It seems that they are staying on Sense 3.6 but I have no doubts that the modding community will have an Android 4.0.3 / Sense 4.0 ROM ready in not too much time.

The Sense 4 Rom's have been available for over a month now. The latest generation work at just about 100%(if not more) as well.

Meh - I've tried them all - they did amazing work porting Sense 4.0 to this phone, but the phone is a little 'slow' when I have the 4.0 ROMs on my phone. The phone ceases to be snappy. Just about all of the features work, but I just am not finding that they all work that well. Over time maybe this will improve, but I'm sticking with the 3.6 ROMs for now.

I agree w/ you on this but the irons are barely warmed up the 4.0roms. I have great faith they'll improve a good thing, albeit a much slower than expected good thing. Really thought they'd have a leg up on the 3.6roms early but it doesn't appear so.

These reasons are why I am waiting for a Sense 4.0 ROM built on the the final release ICS OTA. Hopefully such a ROM will be fully optimized for performance.

I bought the Nexus first. Fine, Fine phone. Loved the form factor, loved the ICS experience. Oh, but wait, it didn't play well with Facebook. Oh, and the service was terrible. On two seprate occasions i had my behind handed to my by my fiance because my phone had no service and i missed 20 plus phone calls. No updates were in sight, so i traded it in for the rezound after 7 days. I've been happy ever since.

Welcome to AC. 20 missed calls, ouch, that's easily got you a night or two of sleeping on the sofa.

I was happy with my old Dinc, but got a deal I couldn't turn down. Love my Rezound with the 720p screen. I did get the extended battery. At 50% off at my local store, yes!

Kinda glad this thread popped back up. I've been playing with my Galaxy Nexus for a good few days now and think I can actually properly compare the two phones now. So here are my pros/cons.

Rezound:
- Great screen
- Much better radios
- Audio clarity and enhancement
- Better Camera flash, picture quality about the same

Galaxy Nexus
- Cleaner interface
- Better ROM support
- CPU Blazes without cooking the phone

All in all the Galaxy Nexus is not a bad phone. It's just got different quirks as far as I can tell. The radios are certainly worse but not as horrible as people claim.

When you say "without cooking the phone", are you referring to how hot the phone gets after a few minutes of continuous use? I thought all phones did this. The Nexus doesn't?

It gets warm but nowhere near as hot as my Rezound does.

That's...well, that's actually pretty good to know. It might've influenced my decision on whether or not to purchase it had I known about it sooner. I have a few CPU-intensive apps from the 10 cent sales that I haven't even bothered using, because my phone becomes a hot plate after 10 minutes.

I've been streaming youtube, plugged in, screen on full brightness for at least the last hour and my nexus's screen is warm, the rest of the phone is cool.

That kinda makes me want to use my upgrade on one, I'd just have to bite the no keyboard bullet from here on out though.
On a slightly related note, did you simply switch your SIM card from the Rezound onto the Nexus? Is there a special process for switching 4G phones at Verizon? I'm used to doing it on their website and entering the numbers on the inside of the phone, behind the battery.

I literally walked in with the Galaxy Nexus, gave them my account info and they got me a micro SIM and activated it. You could do the same over the phone, but then you'd have to wait for them to send you a micro SIM.
