when you're holding a phone using one hand, only the width matters, being thinner doesn't really help, especially if its only 2mm thinner. Nexus isn't "fat" to begin with.
Maybe for you. You are still ignoring height. The phones huge, period.

yes, for me and majority who are getting this phone. I purposely ignored the height, because I didn't think that it'll matter when holding a phone. If that matters you, then yea Razr seems like a fine choice.
Admittedly, the Nexus is big, but considering its screen size compared to the Razr, Nexus's size seems justified, while Razr being only 4.3" isn't that much smaller than the Nexus. The Razr isn't exactly a small phone either. If you're comparing the Nexus with the iPhone, I see your point, but not with the Razr.
If Razr's size is your thing, then sure go ahead with it, no one's forcing you to get the Nexus, its Android we're talking about, there are plenty of choice out there.

What a fabulous world we live in where a difference of .25" constitutes a "choice." :-\ That quarter inch of height probably will be negligible to most, so you're probably not remiss in ignoring it, but it doesn't solve the larger problem that both phones are too @#$% big.

Heh, I know right, but I personally like big screened phones, and my hands aren't even big to begin with. Having a big screen just make the general using experience that much better. I've played with my friend's gs2 for just a couple hours, immediately I've fell in love with the screen size already.
I personally am happy that the 4.65" screen size from the rumors came true, otherwise I would be pretty upset, 4.65" sounds terrific just by saying it out, not 4.5, 4.3 or worst yet 4.0. I know a lot of people have been complaning about the screen size since the rumors days, too bad that just means the phone is not for you.
The thing is smartphones to me aren't just phone, its basically a palm sized PC, and the huge screen (relative to other phones) will definitely help giving a better user experience. I could be saying this too prematurely as I (and most of us) have not even had a hands on with it, but judging from my experience with the sg2, I'll most probably be very happy with it.
0.5"taller. That's huge
How are you getting 0.5" taller? The numbers I've seen are 5.4" vs 5.15" in height.

So why not a 4.3 with no buttons then?
The height is irrelevant when you are holding the phone. It is width that matters and the Galaxy Nexus is 0.9mm less wide and 0.5mm thinner than the 4.5" T-Mobile Galaxy SII.Maybe for you. You are still ignoring height. The phones huge, period.
