Ever since I've left the location on (before I always left it off and just turned it on when I used the GPS), I've noticed a big drain on my battery. I only get 2 hours SOT as opposed to around 5 like before. Has anyone else had this issue?

If location reporting is on, then yes the drain is huge. I really wish Google would fix that. I get that it makes Now more functional, but it kills battery.

I fully disagree with everyone here. I get zero battery drain from location being turned on and always have high accuracy mode turned on (aka: gps/wifi/LTE mode). History being turned on is what will kill battery life. I have this turned off and get zero battery drain during standby.

I have location history off and still have the drain
see my tips - there's two location services -
1. location history
2. location reporting
in addition - High Accuracy GPS.
all of this should be toggled off for max battery life.

Where are the tips? Also, every time I have my location on, I always put it to battery saver. However, it always changes itself and put on high accuracy. I don't know why it does that, but I'm tired of always having to switch it back.
This is just a thought, but does auto brightness instead of keeping the screen brightness on one constant setting also use more battery?

Technically yes -- Any radio being turned on will cause some drain. It really depends what apps you have using that location. I only have a widget that pings once an hour and then Google Now which pings every so often. If you have something else that keeps pinging you a lot it start to cause drain since it keeps activating this extra radio.

i gave the correct answer way back in post 3 (app ping) which i see has been regurgitated as new by others twice for some reason.
