Does the Note 8 have pop up texts?

Stock let's you reply from the pop-up, also on Verizon- I do it all the time

Verizon Message+ app will do pop-up texts, and will also allow you to respond from that popup. I use it all the time. And FYI - you don't have to be a Verizon subscriber to use Verizon Message+ app. And it also works on tablets too.

Sorry, it works on mine, which is just a wi-fi-only version of the Galaxy Tab S. Perhaps it works for me on my tablet because my phone number that I configure in Message+ on the tablet is a Verizon number. Again, sorry. Regardless, it's a great texting app for the phone, and has lots of features.

I feel the text pop-up is too fast. It goes away within a few seconds and if you're fast enough to tap it, all it does is take you to the app itself. It would be awesome if you can just respond directly from the pop-up.

I think Textra does that.

What does edge lighting do?

I have pop up texts and edge lighting as I had to use an edge lighting app as my edge lighting never worked so far.

There should be a down arrow on the pop up after it settles down, tapping the down arrow offers the option to reply without opening the entire app.

This worked for me. Thanks. I also just turned edge lighting while screen is on. That worked too.
