Does the S8/S8+ Use Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 or 4.0

Or maybe Qualcomm has not released it commercially yet
Certainly possible.

In light of the lack of information on what the phone itself can support, and in deference to the in-the-box charger's seemingly apparent QC 2 standard, the best we can hope is that when QC 4 chargers are available the phone will take advantage tag of it.

Maybe the phone does support it, but they just didn't include a 4.0 charger to be on the safe side? I still can't find a 4.0 charger so maybe when they're available you'll be able to use one?
If the S8 supports QC 4.0, it will also support USB Power Delivery.

In theory, plugging it into a Google Pixel charger will trigger quick charging.

Hopefully... 1375 mAh in 15 minutes sure does sound nice!! I have a QC3.0 in my car right now and would probably be willing to upgrade to 4.0 once available if it work with my phone.

So, does anyone really know what it uses?

It should use QC 3.0 UNLESS Samsung didn't pay Qualcomm the license fee for its use on these devices. If it doesn't, they probably have some form of quick charge that they've implemented in-house I would guess.

Yep it should. My G6 is QC 3.0 but they made it accept power delivery as well. I plug it into my old Pixel XL charger at work and it registers as fast charging.

Pretty sure Samsung's design engineer knows. The rest of us, not so much.

I am going to ask the Best Buy guy... I am sure he has the inside scoop. I mean he is the one that everyone believes know the two day early release date...LOL

It SHOULD use 3 or 4, but there hasn't been any indication of that. You'd think Samsung would have touted faster charging at the launch event, but there was nary a word.

They probably limit the Qualcomm version to match the exynos. If the exynos isn't QC 3.0 or 4.0 the 835 version won't be allowed.

Which is stupid. We already get worse battery life with the snapdragon version, at least let us charge it faster. I think that's why it would be limited, if it is.

If it's faster than the note 7 I'll be happy because that was pretty quick. At least as fast as my v20 would be nice.

Sorry I don't know if this question was already asked...

The Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ both use Qualcomm's 835 Snapdragon Processor which is their first mobile processor that can use their new Quick Charge 4.0 technology (https://www.qualcomm.com/news/snapd...five-minutes-charging-five-hours-battery-life). I haven't seen any information about if these phones will actually use this technology?

If the S8/S8+ don't use the 4.0 Quick Charge technology do they at least use the 3.0 Quick Charge technology this time because I know the S7, S7 Edge and Note 7 don't use it.

Also Qulacomm doesn't show the S8/S8+ as being compatible with their 3.0 Quick Charge technology (https://www.qualcomm.com/products/features/quick-charge) but I'm wondering if that's because they aren't official released yet?

Google has told all OEM's to start making their devices compatible with QC standards so even if they have their own versions like Turbo Charging or VOOC it has to be able to use QC as well yes they have to buy a liscense formn Qualcomm but it means that generic chargers the Ankor or Blitzwolf will charge your device fast.

I do not know if it is in place yet but eventualy all phones will have QC in addition to their own versions!
