Does the S8/S8+ Use Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 or 4.0

I wish that Samsung at least put this kind of info in the manual. Trying to figure out is killing me right now...no it's not. Waiting for my phone is though.

I just did a chat with Samsung and he said QC3.

Rahman UR: Hi, thank you for reaching out to Samsung Technical Support. How may I assist you?
John: Hi. Can you tell me which version of QuickCharge the S8/S8+ have?
Rahman UR: I will surely help you with that
John: ok, thanks
Rahman UR: I have checked with my resources.
Rahman UR: I see that the Galaxy S8 and S8+ has Quick Charge 3.0 Version.
John: ok. Thank you. Do you know if that's documented anywhere officially? No one can find it anywhere on the internet.
Rahman UR: Let me check if this is documented in our website.
Rahman UR: Unfortunately, the complete specifications of Galaxy S8 and S8+ are not yet updated in our Samsung website.
Rahman UR: Once the phone is released, you can view the Quick Charge feature in our Samsung website.
Rahman UR: However, I will help you with the web link to view the specifications of the phone in the future.
John: ok, thanks
Rahman UR: You're welcome.

Rahman UR: Is the above link accessible?
John: Yes. although it just seems to take me to the regular S8+ page. I don't see any details there about the QC
Rahman UR: As of now, the complete specifications of the Galaxy S8+ is not yet update and will soon update after the release date which is 04/20/2017.
John: ok. thank you. I will look for them then.
Rahman UR: You're welcome. Is there anything else I can assist you with?
John: that's it. Have a nice day. Thanks

It may be, and I hope it is, QC 3, but the picture of the charging adapter taken during the release event shows output-voltage specifications that are for that of a QC 2 compatible device.

If the phone is genuinely QC 3, then at the very least you'd have to purchase a QC 3 charger in order to gain the (primarily efficiency) improvements that this more widely-variable voltage-range system offers.

QC 4 is where the true performance increases over QC 2 or 3 will be apparent.

True, but QC 3 introduced variable voltage and efficiency increases that result in lower charge temps. Hopefully that will help with battery longevity. I'll take it.

I usually use Wireless fast charging, which is not bad. The other day I hooked up my S7 Edge to the wired fast charger for about 30 minutes because I had a busy day of meetings and needed a fast bump and it was really fast. So as long as it is not any slower then my S7 Edge, I will be fine. :)

No because they did that with their previous model(s) only support 2.0 on the 7 series when the 820 supported 3.0 and that was before the Note 7 incident.

I believe it's because they have their own charging design which includes their implementation of wireless charging that they can't/won't support the higher standard.

I really think they are just limiting it software based because of the battery mishaps on the Note. Maybe they will continue to test and push it out as an update at a later date.

Oh I remember now... it's because they use two different processors for the phone (snapdragon for one market and Exynos in other) and the Exynos in the S7 didnt support 3.0 so to keep both systems the same use the same charging standard.

If the current Exynos doesnt support QC 4.0 then you probabaly won't see it on the S8. Does it even support 3.0?

I guess the 8plus will have one charger. For car, i had a cheapy off ebay. They had an open box Isignia charger at Best Buy and with wife getting two items for her iphone, I picked up the car charger to get 25% all three items

The old charger would not fit this phone and was slow. How can i make sure this is a quick charger and whether it is the 2.0 or 3.0? If this is not that, is there a quick car charger you would recommend?

The charger will most likely have the QC logo on it or you'll see the port referencing QC 2.0 or QC 3.0 on it.

I read somewhere that Samsung is including a micro USB to USB C adapter in the box. Can anyone confirm?

this is freaking STUPID on samsung part.
isnt most people that upgrade phone every years or those that preorder the phone and cant wait to get it are mostly nerds and geeks? why would you leave out qc4.0 or qc3.0 ? because Exynos dont support qc3.0 or qc4.0 so qualcomm version cant have it either? this is freaking STUPID. that is like saying Mercedes shouldnt be selling cars cus not everybody able to afford a Mercedes. how about charging more money on Qualcomm version with support of qc4.0, i have no problem with that.
