Doesn't recognize my fingerprint and don't know backup password, how can I get into my phone?

doesn't recognize my fingerprint and don't know backup password

Got my new phone yesterday. Apparently I did the fingerprint set up but now it doesn't recognize my fingerprint and I have no idea what the backup password is. I can change the regular access password but apparently that is different than the backup password needed for the fingerprint set up.

Any suggestions?

Did you register it on the Samsung.com web site? If so, you go there, login, and there is an option to UNLOCK the screen. Otherwise you might be stuck in just doing a full reset of it - at which point you MUST be in possession of your GMAIL Account login that was registered with the phone.

That's what came to mind for me as well.

Since you just got it and set it up, you can just factory reset it and start over.

I wouldn't jump to the conclusion of it being stolen because they forgot or mis-typed the password. This happens more than you think, I work in IT and see it daily with a 5,000 user base.

If you get the backup password wrong a few times it asks for your gmail and password that's associated with the phone. That feature saved my *** a couple times. Dunno why fingerprints and passwords quit working sometimes.

I've had to reset my phone before due to fingerprints not being recognized and backup password being forgotten, so I made sure it's dutifully registered at samsung.com. This thread made me check there just now to see how I can unlock it from there, and I can't find the option? I log in to samsung.com, go to my account, see my phone listed there, click on it and get all sorts of details about it, can download manuals, etc. But, I don't see the unlock option?
