DROID 2.1 Update thread.

Loaded up the 2.1 update on my phone and all is excellent. There was initially a little bit of lag but that all went away. Now things are smooooooth. I haven't gotten to play around too much with it yet, but I really dig on the live wallpapers. I use google maps a lot and one of the first things I've noticed is that my location is now where it's supposed to be. It used to show my position to be up to a mile off of actual location when not using GPS. Now, it's almost spot on. I'm hoping that means a slightly better signal as well.
Check under Settings > Sound and display to see if there is a 'Number of home panels' entry on the menu. In my Milestone update (Asia) there is that entry (very bottom of the page) and it lets you select 3, 5, 7, or 9 home screens.
Okay, I will give in... Where do I place the update on my card. I understand the "root" of the card but I have nothing of the sort.
the root\ directory is just the top directory. When you go into the drive from My Computer and don't go into any folder
2.1 is running nice and smooth for me now also. Trouble loading the gallery the first time, but as opposed to the update, I used a little patience and after the initial load of the gallery only loaded 3 of my 7 albums, I backed out went back in and they were all there. I also just added the Helix Launcher (v1) which is running *eh* okay, but is a nice addition.
The browser improved a great deal. Its far smoother than before. I'm probably more stoked about the browser than anything else. Its awesome now.
I installed from mirror 1 and it says the gallery isn't installed. Should I boot the update again?
So I just installed the 2.1 update and now I'm getting repeated force closes from the 3D Launcher that I had previously installed. I am not able to access anything on the phone, just get one force close after another.
The only thing I can think of to fix this is to restore to factory default, anyone have any other ideas???????

This is what I have gathered after playing with it for some time this morning:
I'll have to wait and see on the battery life.
- Multi touch in the browser and new gallery app
- Updated gallery app
- Only 3 home screens still, don't see any option to change this as some have suggested
- Live wallpapers
- New News/Weather widget
- Browser seems MUCH faster and more responsive now
- Voice input on keyboard, I turned this off
- There seems to be some lag when first booting up, but it goes away after a few minutes.
- Scrolling between home screens seems pretty smooth, but launching apps seems much faster than before
- Setting contact shortcuts on the homescreen no longer brings you to the contact app. Touching their shortcut now brings up the quick contact dropdown menu
I'll have to wait and see on the battery life.
I've heard many people are having problems with their 3D launchers on this update. You might want to just uninstall the 3D launcher and wait and see if another 3D launcher app comes out that will be more compatible with ESE81
Oh and I'd like to add that the on-screen portrait keyboard seems to be a little more accurate, at least with me.
