Droid Bionic coming in September

With all the hype that this phone has built up around it, if it comes with anything less than specs that don't equal the top of the line smartphones being released at the end of the year, it will be an epic fail. Some will still buy it, but if 1ghz dual core is all they got, they have missed that boat. How typical of Verizon to release dated hardware and expect you to sink your money in to it for a two year trip. My question is, where are the dual core powerhouses from HTC, Samsung, etc that have already been released on other carriers? Verizon is too concerned with every little issue with new phones to keep up-to-date hardware on their network anymore....there are always going to be issues with new technology, no matter how much you test it.

I have a upgrade to burn right now. Then one coming due in Feb. and 2 more in May. 5 phones on a family plan equal many chances to upgrade! Plus all 5 lines got locked into unlimited data and the best part is I only pay $9.99 for that data on each line because of a promo deal I took advantage of last year!

True but with not being able to upgrade for 2 years I am willing to wait a little longer to make sure I wisely spend my upgrade/money. I said it earlier that if Bionic had released a little bit ago then it would have been a no brainer but the timing is just too close to other big hitters. I just don't have money to toss around on a whim to buy a phone off contract.

I here ya trail, but I don't want to "wait" my life away. There will ALWAYS be something better coming out in a couple months; at some point you have to say, enough is enough and pull the trigger. Just because they are saying SGII and Prime will be out "soon," their soon could end up being delayed too. I'm not strong enough to keep waiting, so I guess come September 1st or 30th, I will most likely get the Bionic. I figure it will serve me better than my Storm2 did these past 2 years!

I am actually more impressed about how adult the comments have been. I was worried that this thread would be closed before the second page filled up.

The more I read about these phones, the more I want to wait, which stinks because I know their will always be better phones down the line. Luckily I just checked the Verizon site and it says I have three upgrades (Family plan) So maybe I will get all three LOL. (If only I had the money)

Thats exactly the way I take it as well.... unless he meant that to mean 'minimum of a gigahertz' and his english isn't the greatest.. no idea though

amazing what can happen when the discussion stays focused, and people dont take things personally

im just glad this thing finally has a release window. what im not happy about is i have some serious thinking to do about what device im getting this year. two great devices are now coming out within the next 2 months (hopefully) and the possibility of the Nexus on the horizon as well. decisions, decisions...

What are you basing you prediction on? And how does having exactly one delay constitute "keeps shooting themselves in the foot"

I'm basing it on not only Moto's problem with the Bionic, but other devices in which they said one thing did not deliver. One delay I believe it was 2 and the original Bionic with the Tegra 2 was completely scrapped so yeah I have very little faith in Moto at all and that is what I mean by shooting themselves in the foot. Go ask a few Xoom owners how they like their LTE update that was supposed to happen quickly.

Moto will ship 1 phone to a Verizon store in northern Montana on September 30. That will exhaust their supply and it will be backordered until December. There will be a 60 day waiting period, so the first people will get their buggy Bionics in February. The phone will crash every 2 hours because it was rushed to the market.

Everyone will then await the Bionic X killer phone for the next 6 months.

I know I said I was done, but reviews on the Photon peg it as a great phone and my interest has been restored just a bit. In all likelihood I won't be getting it unless it releases on September 1st on the dot because I leave the next weekend for college.
