DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

It won't find the update, no. You can always download it manually and install it from the SDCARD. The stupid update service gets corrupt from time to time and the only way anyone's found to fix it is a factory reset. One of these days someone should find a way to reset just the update service.

Thanks

I didn't say anything about a build. :) To me the next question was obvious....if it didn't work for him and it did for me, how does he fix it. :) The answer sucks.

Well i did a factory reset and still getting the "this service is not available"

WTH...that's messed up. Are you trying it on wifi or cell radio? I've not seen it fail after a factory reset so something else must be going on in your case. sigh.

Sorry, I just have update on the brain. I get a little nervous when you say you have bad news.

Try it on wifi when you get a chance and see if it makes any difference. Something's definitely not right...especially if a factory reset didn't fix it. sigh.

I've been reading on how Jelly Bean on other phones has messed up dock support, with something about Google actually removing code to support docks. Does anyone know more about this?

Are you referring to a car dock or the WebTop?

No idea. I would hope so. I haven't heard anything either way.

Sam, would you say Motorola committing to a time frame (q2) is more a reflection on the build quality or the fact that everything else seems to be done so they can focus there resources on bionic

Fortunately I was able to interpret these feelings correctly: loss of essence.

LOL. I have some ideas, but, I think it's not an appropriate thing for me to say here. ;) I think it's a case of damn the torpedos, this thing's GOING out the door.

I'm of the thought that the JB update's potential outweighs its potential flaws. Maybe owning a Bionic for almost a 1 1/2 years has made me too cynical, but I'm sure there will be flaws. All I really care is that it makes the interface smoother and more responsive. Google Now is nice, but I'll probably not utilize it much. Now a disastrous update that would brick the phone altogether, would be unforgivable and Verizon will catch heck from me!

I'll only take the update once someone confirms there's a working root exploit for it.

I don't understand why we do not have root privileges to begin with. Imagine buying a PC but not being allowed to enter control panel.

I'm actually considering FINALLY rooting my Bionic tonight. Even thinking about installing one of those JB ROMs. Bricking risks aside, is there another good reason not to customize my Bionic all the way? After all, it's EoL with no warranty coverage. It's already lasted far longer than my first iPhone.

Knowing my luck, the JB OTA will probably be aired the week after I take the plunge! :D
