DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

Because 22 failed testing...

Sam are you still sticking by your time frame estimate for the role out?

-D

Yup. I said any time from today til the beginning of May. I'd LIKE to think the soak test would start today but I honestly don't know. And someone else found the actual size of the update is 337 megs which makes far more sense to me. Looks like the info I got about build 23 going out was wrong. UGH. Sucks losing my damn testing page. GRRRRRR.

I was curious on this so I checked Verizon's website and sure enough it said 22. Doesn't mean it's right but it's curious indeed.

As I stated before, maybe the person responsible for that get one thousand kicks to the groin! Being left in the dark is NOT fun.

April 3rd, yes. :) And it's possible it'll start today. Or it could be next week. No one knows. I'm not even sure if Moto does. They're soaking an emergency maintenance release for RAZR M as we speak so it's possible the Bionic soak will be pushed back so they can get that out. I honestly just don't know.
Unless it is a server capacity issue why would this delay the Bionic soak test (is it the inability of moto to chew gum and walk at the same time)?

You ever try to use their feedback network? I think they have 1 windows 95 era server running the whole Motorola show.

Fortunately I was able to interpret these feelings correctly: loss of essence.

It's not wrong. Son of a! If I were you guys and gals, I'd perhaps hold off on installing this build. cough cough. When I say it FAILED testing I'm not kidding. This is not going to be a repeat of the success of ICS. This is going to be a cluster mess.....Thanks, VZW....thanks a lot. sigh.

Tell me about it.

Both yes...but with this VZW confirmation now, I suspect the soak will start today. If not then sooner rather than later.

I never thought I'd see the day. Bionic on DL actually gave Sam credit.

Seems odd - the support page screen shot says the phone thats being updated is a Droid RAZR rather than a BIONIC even though the PDF saays its the instructions for the Bionic. Am I missing something?

Sam, just for my peace of mind (and based upon my memory), Build 22 does not have the crISIS issue correct. It really sucks that sucker blinded us! Can you discuss the possible other issues as you understand them with Build 22?

You aren't. Verizon is um.....well let's say they're showing which phone they prefer with that. :)

/me walks away slowly whistling innocently..... ;)

The official Verizon news artile says April 15th for the rollout, and it lists ICS in the URL...

DROID Smartphones - Android Ice Cream Sandwich

There are lots of errors here. Maybe the update 22 is a typo and left over from a previous draft, to a normal user the version is practically irrelevant.

I have yet to get a confirmation on the build number yet for sure, but, it's VERY likely going to be 22 and if it is, I'm not installing it on my Bionic. Not the traditional way anyway.

Sam,

Is it possible for Motorola to slip build 23 in as build 22 to get around Verizon? Something like what was initially speculated with the 246/247 builds if I remember correctly.

Sam I remember with the ICS upgrade that there was a similar scenario were you felt it would be better if we got 247 instead of 246 because of the ease of transition to JB. But later you found out 246 was essentially the same as 247. I know there isn't anyway you could know this now, but is it possible what we are getting 23 packaged as 22?

No. I'm pretty sure this is going out as build 22 which really blows. I have a plan but it's not for the inadventurous. If you're up for the challenge and have patience....

Keep Root and Ability to Downgrade - DroidRzr.com

There are ways to move to the latest build and not lose our ability to downgrade. BUT, it's not without risk. Make damn sure you know what you're doing if you go this route.
