DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

I view Project Butter as the real benefit of JB, with Google Now as an added bonus. The comparison videos and hands-on experience I've witnessed with JB devices convinced me that I'll be sticking with Android for the duration.

Not going to lie, early issues with the Bionic made me second-guess my bolting from the iPhone. That's history now.

I'm of the opinion that we do NOT have a working root exploit for Bionic JB. :( So if you want root, now is the time. We can protect it through the update, but, if you ever have to flash system for any reason (i.e. FXZ) you will permanently lose root with no wait to get it back. With Dan retiring we are essentially screwed. And I've been told he said he won't be magically pulling a Bionic exploit out of the air for us. Sucks to be us I guess but then that's par for the course. :)

Question: Every time there has been an OTA update, my phone would NOT take it, I've had to FXZ every single time. Any suggestions on what I could have done to cause this, and what I can do to get the OTA to work? I've already unfroze and updated everything. Have Vodoo OTA Rootkeeper installed.

Well, that's not nearly enough information to go on. "phone would not take it" isn't exactly a highly technical error message. LOL :) With some more info maybe.

I thought I wouldn't use Google Now, but I check it every morning on my Nexus 7.

It's been way to long to remember the error message. I do remember looking it up, and everyone said to just use the FXZ. Downloaded, tried to update, and error-ed out.

Well without knowing the error there's absolutely no way to figure out what caused it. All i can say is try to do the new update and post the error.

Ry, how do you like that nexus 7? Droid life posted a story about it being on sale for $99, and was thinking about ordering it.

I've heard a lot of good and bad about the N7. By brother got one for christmas, and he loved it. Then yesterday it just died. I looked on the N7 forums and other people have experienced the same problem. There are also a handful of other problems that seem to be common. I've been wondering, many months ago ASUS and Google said they came up with the idea of the N7 around CES of 2012, and in a flurry of development, announced it in May. That is a really short time. I wonder if this short time made their quality control process suffer, and that's why so many N7's are having problems. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's a fine device, but being Google's first Tablet, and one of their first devices relatively speaking, I'm willing to bet a Samsung or Sony type device will go through more intense drilling. Just a thought, as my brother just ran into problems yesterday.

No one should be buying a nexus tablet right now. They need to wait a month. If you're concerned about cost, the existing nx7 will be on fire sale after Google I/O. If you want something newer in the same price range, wait. Trust me.

He might have that issue where if the battery drains all the way.. It doesnt have enough juice to recharge. I had that issue and fixed it. Look it up on YouTube.

I too am waiting on the next batch of nexus tablets for myself.

Fortunately I was able to interpret these feelings correctly: loss of essence.

He said battery was at 80% when he put it down. Came back 20 minutes and the screen flickered and wouldn't turn on.

Am I the only one still curious as to what has happened to "Renaldo"? Days even weeks have gone by without even a mention. Should we file a missing persons report for him and his magnificant mustache (that's how i picture him in my head)?
Yes i dug up my old username and password just to ask this question :)

7" with a snapdragon quad core and higher res screen. I don't expect a new 10" (what I'm waiting for) til later in the year.

Cool...will check it out, although I agree, 10" may be preferable.

I'm coming from a Xoom, so, I need to do something this year and I want thinner, better screen, and quad core. But it must be 10".

I really dislike the pathetic show of corporate circle jerking to push the resolution of these devices ever higher as if they have any actual benefit. Yeah great, you need a microscope to see the pixels, meanwhile performance and battery life suffers.

The fact that you bring up that a**hat makes me chuckle. May he get one thousand kicks to the groin for screwing Sam's source of our vital information!
