DROID BIONIC Jelly Bean Update

As I've mentioned in the past, mine is a company phone. Got it in March 2012, so should get the new one in March 2014. I'm sure I'll have phone lust when KLP launches, but past experience tells me it won't roll out to non-Nexus phones much before your Nov timeframe. March isn't that long after, so hopefully I'll hit the timing right as well.

That's quite correct. I think you'll be fine with that time line.

I'd love a new phone. My philosophy though is to buy on a major version of Android. So in theory, I'd want one with KLP so I'm looking at November. UGH. Not sure if I wanna wait that long or not. Maybe. We'll see.

My timeline is good then. Got my Bionic in November of 2012 and will be getting g another this November.

Excellent. JB, if this build turns out to be better than my expectations, will hold us over for a while.

Like bionic and ics ;)

Sam,

I know this is a bit off topic for this thread but I hope everyone will indulge me this quick question. I did start a thread on this forum about this but thought I would ask here real quick.

Do you know why I would get a 495 error from Play Store while downloading Titanium Backup after a FXZ? If so, any idea how to correct it. Can't find any working answers anywhere on this.

If you prefer so others don't get mad, you can respond on the thread I started about this a few minutes ago.

Thank you.

Check your proxy settings. Clear the cache of the play store. If neither works, then I don't know.

Okay. I logged in to another wifi network I have and had no problem. Curious about that, but it worked. Thanks for mentioning the proxy because I wouldn't have thought about that. My wifi is behind an IPCop firewall with two wifi connections, one protected and one not (a DMZ) :)

Thanks again.

Maybe it is VZW's parting shot at their beloved Bionic!
From Verizon's perspective, a botched release of JB may be the best possible solution. It allows them to claim that they have in fact upgraded the phone to current for its two-year lifespan, while screwing things up just badly enough to cause everybody to dump the phone and upgrade now. If they released a solid version of JB, their customers would do what so many of us have already said that we plan to do: keep this phone on a month-to-month basis beyond the end of the contract, which means Verizon loses all those sales. Perhaps I'm being excessively cynical, although Verizon's behavior threatens to outpace my cynicism almost every day.

I don't believe Verizon wants to push a defective OS that will give them nothing but headaches from all the users calling and ******** especially the bionic community. They don't need a botched OS to get us to buy new phones. I can guarantee if they build the Xphone and it is killer and ready to go in say august many will dump the bionic, no matter how great JB is. I wouldn't get to hung up on the OS number whether it is 22 or 23 I am going to be optimistic and say it will work well on the bionic like ICS did. Remember the problems the razr and d4 had with ICS we didn't run into those issues hopefully this will be a repeat of that update.

Newbie here. Should I do a factory reset before I install the update. I've had no issues with ICS. Thanx.

Up to you. Not strictly necessary but certainly not a bad thing to do if you want the best stability.

I've always been of the opinion to do a factory reset after I update. But not before.

Another newbie here. Fwiw, having noticed a little lag on my Bionic lately, and never having FDRed before, I did so yesterday thinking I would try it just before and again just after the JB update. Not that painful really, and so far the phone's clearly snappier and battery drain seems a little slower. I figure I can just wait a week or so until JB comes before I reFDR and get it all the way back to the way I want it.

I appreciate all the help from this forum.

Man im aching to get jb. I dreamt last night that the update was pushed out.. Lol. Well atleast I fxz'd bak to 246 so ill be ready.

Why? I was thinking about doing an FR before the update. My reasoning is that it would be better to have the phone be nice and clean before updating. If after the update the phone is laggy, I can also do a FR after too.

Sam, you have any info as to why Dan up and quit?

Also let's say our jb release is buggy as all hell. Would they not patch it BC were near/at our EOL date
